I don't think, that your prob belongs to the different Vista versions.

Did you install DD in the Program files folder or at the top level of your HD?

The Program folder under Vista has limited permissions, also when you logged on as Administrator and UAC is off.

I'm using Vista Premium. I don't have any problem with records in mpg. They play fine in Windows Mediaplayer.

If you have UAC on, switch it off and try again.

A few additional informations. Playing the record in "GOM" or "Mediaplayer Classic", the audio sounds like a bird. Playing in "Windows Media Player", plays only the non selected audio stream. When I'm recording in "ts" the audio sounds like a bird. It happens only to the active audio stream. The other audio streams are OK.

Recording in mpg works fine, except the aspect ratio is always 4:3 for 16:9 videos. EDIT: 16:9 works fine, I've had some wrong settings in the player

I made some small modifications with a res-editor in the current DD1.4h as a workaround for the Aero issue.
