Petition regarding h.264 codec

Postby ppajko » Thu Feb 21, 2008 8:16 am

What is going in with the h.264 codecs. There are frame drops and pic stuttering. Tried all popluar h.264 codecs and all with the same results. The best luck was with coreavc, smooth video, but after changing channels to another h.264 channel, then dd1.4i drops frames and pictures stutters. Restart dd1.4 and all is fine. CPU usage is at about 40-55% when this happens.
Powerdvd cyberlink 7.2- Audio out of sync, pic stutters, lost frames.
Arcsoft- Picture stutters every 2 seconds audio is ok.
Mainconcept- not working,no pic, audio codec incompatible.
* Tried multiple PC's w/same results.Both powerful pc's
Video codec: Nvidia purevideo works, audio is perfect.

PC Specs:
AMD 4400 x2
Nvidia 8800GT 512
Asus motherboard onboard audio hd ms2v hdmi 1250
2 gigs ddr2 633
Vista ulti.
320w power supply

4400 X2 Athlon 2gig ddr2 ram, 8800 gt 512pci-e
Vista 32bit w/Genpix.Always trouble with h264.

I have the same issue with the stuttering and dropped frames. This is really only noticeable when watching sports. Movies look pretty good, but turn on a hockey game and you can really tell.

I'm using coreacv and I've tried setting the deinterlace to BOB.
I've also tried Arcsoft, it wasn't any better.

bob is already set, also this happens on any h264 channel only, not hd mpeg2 or mpeg2 sd.

I've got the same problem. Rest of the channels work fine. First H D channel that I turn on, MOST of the time, it works fine, but once I change it to another H D channel, it starts degrading. Choppiness starts. Any help/solution would be greatly appreciated.

FAST PC (core 2 duo w/ 3GB RAM)
nvidia purevideo video codecs
intervideo audio codecs
coreAVC h.264 H D codecs

no p roblems here with video.. 4400 X2, nvidia 7950GT. Using either coreavc or arcsoft (I think it looks a little better) for h264, but I can't get any audio codec (ac3) to work with either. I may reinstall windows

I have found "stutter" on sports is due to codec pollution, video drivers and/or display resolution. I had it for a while on sports then did a fresh XP install, used 163.75 Nvidia driver for video and set resolution to native what my HDTV handles (1080i). Since then, no problems.

You must uninstall all the codecs you don't use and then use ccleaner to remove the remains. RegScanner will also find pesky leftovers. Make sure you don't have multiple ddsource.ax CLSIDs. Failing all that, a fresh install is in order - sorry. Make an image of the clean install with just the bare min codecs for future use.

The only codecs I have are Nvidia Purevideo (audio and video) and coreavc 1.6 (Bob) using VMR and Realtek sound. Directsound also works fine. The picture is perfect and the sound in sync. Also make sure the buffers are not overflowing.

I said no problems earlier, but that was not true. lots of problems..

anyway yeah I'm just going to wait until I have the hardware for a new machine, then start over. Not worth the time until then.
