no ac3/hd audio

I recently upgraded my system and cannot get the ac3 or hd audio to run on dvbdream, analog audio works just fine. I get hd video but no audio on any hd channel. Have tried every combination of codecs with no luck. Has anyone else run into this? Had an asus M2N-E mainboard and amd dual 6000+ processor, everything worked fine with dvbdream, and other applications too. Am now using new asus m3a32-mvp mainboard, amd phenom 9850 quad processor, 4 gigabytes 1066 memory. Running winxp pro, and using geforce 8500gt 512 graphics. When I play back a recorded TS stream the audio was also recorded and everything plays back just fine. Cannot get audio on any hd channel unless I first record it, and then play it back. Have tried to change settings in codecs with no luck.

no ac3/hd audio update
Update on my situation; I have installed all major codecs for ac3/aac, H 264, etc. All are properly registered, even installed ms kb888111 hd audio drivers. Uninstalled audio applications and drivers, and reinstalled them. Uninstalled all codecs and reinstalled them. My audio chipset is AD1988B, downloaded current drivers from both chip mfg and Asus. Motherboard is Asus M3A32-MVP deluxe with 790I chipset. I get hd video just fine, but cannot get ac3 or hd audio with the video. All analog 544x480 works correctly. Any with H264 and AC3 has correct video but no audio. When I record a show to a ts file it will play back both video and audio properly. I disabled the AD1988b onboard audio, installed creative sound blaster audigy se card after uninstalling drivers and software for the AD1988b. Installed current drivers/software for sound blaster. Thought this might work if the problem was in the sound chip. No luck, it still acts the same as the origional did.
Does anybody have any other ideas? Maybe this is a problem with ddsource.ax and ac3/hd audio?
Thanks again to Jerryt for his advice.

AC3/HD AUDIO update
Thanks Jerryt, I hadn't thought older versions of DD would work, so I didn't try them. Don't know what actually happened, maybe trying the older versions finally forced the filters to interconnect correctly. I tried all versions of 1.3, then went to 1.4, trying all combinations of filters on each. It was when I tried ver 1.4 that the AC3 audio began working. And yes to your previous questions, I tried default directsound, sound blaster and soundmax (on board chip), mainconcept filters didn't work, and DDsource was registered. I went back to ver 1.4I and the AC3 audio was working. Previously Nero audio was the only one that load and not stay red, now, gabest mpeg/ac3 v 1.0.0.3 is the only one that will work correctly. my setup is as follows
Nvidia purevideo v 4020.223.00
gabest mpeg/ac3 v 1.0.0.3
video mixing renderer 9
default directsound or soundblaster both works
h.264 sonic avc v 3.3.0.251 ( produces the smoothest video)
cyberlink pdvd7 h.264 codec would not produce video, pinacle 2.0.527.0 h.264 was jerky, as was h.264 coreavc 1.7.0.0.
And again, thanks for your help and suggestions, I now have AC3 audio again.

AC#/HD AUDIO
Jerryt;
I used the link I got on one of the other pages on this forum, here it is:
http://codec.kiev.ua/mpeg4.htm, look for the codec file "Sonic AVC/H.264 decoder v 3.3.0.15355". Hope this helps you.
