Windows 8 preview and DvbDream 1.7a

Postby no1ninja » Sun Apr 01, 2012 8:35 pm

Hi guys,

Just running the preview of Windows 8. 1.7a works, but when I go full screen and try to return, on the return the app hangs, and then becomes non responsive. Is this a Windows 8 problem or my hardware combo? Thinking of downgrading to windows 7, but kind of like the speed of 8 so if anyone has a solution please let me know.

The PC I am doing this with is as follows.

Asus F1A75-M Pro with latest bios (On board video 1080p)
AMD A8 3870K 3.0 Ghz, FM1, Black Edition (quad core/4MB cache)
8GB DDR3 1600 in Dual Channel
Windows 8 preview
+AC3 Filter (only non Microsoft pre-packed item added to get sound)

Let me try this another way, anyone running windows 8 that can jump in and out of full screen without hanging dvbdream 1.7a?

(btw I am using a skywalker-1 but I don't think that makes a difference with this specific problem. (and yes the Vista/Win 7 drivers and device for SW-1 work just fine in windows 8 )

still the same issue, but...

Doing a <CTRL-W> and quickly following that up by getting out of fullscreen can prevent the app from crashing, if you need to go back to the channel bar on the left to change channel its a trick that seems to work if timed right.

Same thing here, befor with win 8 CP and now with win 8 RP.
Trying changing redender mode to VMR9 but there is no image, with VMR7 things goes better but get bad image quality.
Hope patch will be released ASAP

Still have the same problem

Here is my setup, I don't like using VMR9 or VMR7 (sorry about my snobbishness in that matter - i should test it though and see if the problem goes away, will follow up)

Just stops responding when changing from fullscreen to app mode, not always, but often, its safer when you do a quick CTRL-W and than switch.

If anyone else has similar hardware and this issue please let me know.

(may install windows 7 on a spare drive and see if the problem goes away.... just been lazy)

EDIT: 2 x 1080p displays in case that matters

The same problem.
Just running the preview of Windows 8 Pro; Enterpris, v1.7a, v2.1 works, but when I go full screen and try to return, on the return the app hangs, and then becomes non responsive.

Here is my setup, I don't like using VMR9 or VMR7, In this mode, all right.

Use mode redender - "Enhanced Video Renderer", In this mode the return the app hangs, and then becomes non responsive.
