DVBDream and Setup4PC neccessity

Postby firelord » Wed Sep 27, 2006 4:06 pm

Hello! I had been using DVBDream 0.8.7 for a long time, and then I migrated to version 1.2a. ;) I like the new version very much but it won't work unless I turn on Setup4PC, and I don't like it to run in the background. 0.8.7 worked perfectly without Setup4PC. Is Setup4PC an absolute neccessity?

I have a Sky Star 2.6D, WinXP SP2 and I use 4.3.0 drivers.

Best regards!

It works good here, Setup4PC is not running, B2C2 direct device. Try 4.3.2 or 4.4.0 version, or change device.

hi, nice to see 0.8.7 users finally migrating !!

setup4pc is not necessarry if you use b2c2 direct device.

If you use b2c2 sdk device, you would need setup4pc to be installed. but still not necessary to have it running at tray. (just remove it from startup)

here is extra info from FAQ :
9. You are a B2C2 (SkyStar2, AirStar or CableStar) owner and can't make it run on DD?
B2C2 SDK device requires some ax and dll files provided by Technisat (in their official driver packages). When you update your driver using device manager, it won't update these files.
So make sure the following file's versions are 4.3.2.9999 or newer

c:\windows\system32\skydll.dll
c:\Program Files\TechniSat DVB\bin\Sky2PCAVSrc.ax
c:\windows\system32\drivers\skynet.sys

Briefly, when you use SDK device instead of Direct device, it will need Server4PC to be installed on the system.
DVB Dream - because I have to dream about having time to code it
