H.264 Success

Postby tryit » Sat Oct 28, 2006 4:04 am

Just a note to brag. I replaced my P4 3GHz with a Core2Duo 6600 2.4 GHz 2GB RAM ATI x1300 PCIExpress video. H.264 is now perfect. I am using the ATI codec. Horsepower! It wants horsepower! DD reports about 20% cpu. Taskmanager says 40-45%.

For some reason it wont give me the option to select the h.264 codec in the drop down box. I have Quick Time PRO installed but no go. I have also tried installing stand alone h.264 codecs. Any tips on what i could be doing wrong ????

Is it properly entered into guids.ini? Look at that file in the dd root directory.

did you install Cyberlink H.264 too?

You can test H.264 with Cyberlink , ATI or CoreAVC codecs at the moment. Cyberlink H.264 codec is included in PowerDVD 7:

Thanks for sharing the experience. Did you disable the option "Prevent usage of the more than one CPU" or using it with its default (enabled)

Yes, I have the "prevent" option checked. I unchecked it and all sorts of video wierdness appeared.

Okay I finally got it to acknowledge the H.264 codec. I set TSN-HD to run on the H.264 pid setting and when it tries to tune the channel I get the sound but I get no picture and the CPU % appears very low like its not using the H.264 codec. I know its trying to run the H.264 cause when I go to Options>Video it shows the top codec cyberlink (new) greyed out and the H.264 codec has a white background instead of grey. Yes I have the Cyberlink H.264 codec installed, i have the priority set to normal..

Any Thoughts on what im doing wrong..

TSN-HD, at 82? 12311? Your problem is that its not MPEG-4 H264, its MPEG-2. Regular Codec. None of my codecs are greyed out, pick a good regular video codec.

I have PDVD7 but I don't have this codec, Where did you get it?

OK, It is in the later PDVD7.
