Switching from TV to Radio channel

I've just started trying Dvb Dream v1.4i

Picture nothing special, but if I click from a Tv station to any radio station, the app crashes, alert box "dvbdream.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. It then sends report to Microsoft. I don't know how to obtain this info, if that is what you would need.

When I restart DVB Dream, there is no picture or sound and can only get it working again with Windows restart.

Strange, which version is it exactly, what is in the title bar - v1.4i, or v1.4i p1?

Try to backup and then delete the file Settings.cfg.

Don't understand

Thanks for the reply. I'm using v 1.4i p1.
How and what do I backup?

Settings.cfg file in the DVB Dream install folder, just select it, press ctrl+c, ctrl+v to backup, then close DVB Dream, delete the original file (Settings.cfg) and start DVB Dream.

Do you have the problem with any channel(s)? If not, with which channels exactly?

I've followed your instructions regarding the Settings.cgf file and it's still the same.

I flicked around a variety of TV channels. As soon as I clicked on a radio station (on theis occasion, Smooth Radio) I heard the radio station briefly, before the Microsoft "dvbdream.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close." alert appeard. Closed the box and it all shut down.

I restarted DvbDream and there was no sound and a black picture. The copper coloured station identifier appeared as normal when the channel is changed, but still a silent black picture. Now when I select a radio station it doesn't crash. No sound either.

Have you tried another audio (and video) codec?

Have you tried another audio (and video) codec?
Yes, that did it, thanks. No crashes now. I had:

Video Codec: Intervideo (v7.0.27.191 - 17/04/2003)
Audio Codec: DScaler (v0.0.6.0 - 18/2/2006)

I changed audio codec to Elecard (New) (v1.5.340.142-03/04/2007)

I also have (as before):
Video Renderer: Video MMixing Renderer 9
Audio Renderer: Default DirectSound Device.

As I'm not particularly au fait with all this, I'm not sure that this is ideal. Is it just a matter of trial and error?

Now I'm trying to figure out how to configure Teletext.

From the FAQ:

6. What codecs should I use for better DD performance?
Depends on the hardware you have. Sonic and Nvidia will likely be best video-codecs for DD. Intervideo for audio

Ig you have any problems with video/audio, always try to change the codecs first. Try at least few different codecs first.

10. Where to place plugins ? Is it possible to have Teletext on DD?
You should put plugins to dvbdream\plugins\pip00 folder. Then execute copy_all.bat to copy plugins to all other PIP folders. It is possible to use teletext installing MDTeletext plugin.

Just search for MDteletext plugin.
