Supporting XC5000 based ATSC card

Postby Shyguy » Fri Aug 21, 2015 9:44 pm

Hi,

Tested DD today since the latest build now starts to support ATSC but it seems my FusionHDTV7 card is not detected and I see only BDA driver and no channels were found.

It's because only TBS ATSC tuner is supported now?

Hi, no. All ATSC cards that are BDA compatible should work.
But DD ATSC support is getting mature, wait for the next version.
Btw, can you attach your "bda.log" and "dvbdream.log" files here ? from \logs folder inside the folder where you installed DVB Dream.

Thanks , I will wait for the language file. Where are you located ? which city/country? I need testers, could send you test versions if you can spare some time for ATSC tests. Btw I will give a free license key for the translation , either you can use if you don't have DD registered or give someone else.

Hi , thanks for the info, I will post a test version or send you here soon.
Btw, did you test on ATSC-Cable or ATSC-Terrestrial ? Is it cable provider which uses ATSC in South Korea ?

Can you record some sample stream for me to work on ? from cable ATSC.

How to capture a sample stream
1) Start "TSWriter2" (or "Stream Recorder") module (under DD main menu->Modules) on the frequency where you get signal, record about 100 mb
2) Upload file to somewhere (pcloud.com, justcloud.com, dropbox, google drive etc). and send links to me

Hi, please download this version:
http://www.dvbdream.org/download

1) You should select "Korea" as the country for both terrestrial and cable broadcasts in localization options (if you install a clean copy, just select it in preconfiguration dialog)
2) After this, on scan dialog, you can select frequency lists either for ATSC cable or ATSC terrestrial. Frequencies are defined as center frequencies (what you entered + 1750 khz) in "terrestrial.ini" file both for cable&terrestrial under "Korea" country titles (this file located in \transponders folder)

It should now correctly detect channel names and even display EPG titles (I am not sure about korean charset but anyway test it )

Let me know, if you have any ideas/suggestions. I will try to make it easier (setup etc)

Thank you for the update.
Will test and get back to you soon.

Btw, I sent translation file to you via PM. Wonder if I can get a license to test more easily.

According to channel information you posted, it looks like PowerVU. During recording it might have for a while gone unencrypted, then back to crypted etc.. Even for a second. This could break recording's duration. :)

Otherwise, it might simply be a player (or the selected codecs if you played through DVB Dream) problem, Player might not be supporting the format well enough. TS is recorded as is from the stream captured. DD doesnt do any significant post processing.

I have sent you a license in PM, thanks for the language file.

Thank you. I'll send the final one when it's ready so you can include it in the next release.

Btw, the packet loss is also related to the encryption? I always see the loss even if the signal strength is very good.
Do you know how to fix this or update the duration of the stream?

I have fixed ATSC EPG titles issue and a few more bugs, please download the file again, from the same URL.

Packet loses - can be because of hot tuner(hardware) or momentary bad signal / electromagnetic rf environment noise. (bad signal to noise level) or high CPU usage (CPU bootleneck). It is not related to encryption.

I'm not sure how you can fix that, maybe you can find some post processing tools that can remove encrpypted/broken parts and recalculate timing, on TS files. Any "TS to another format" converter might help as well. (cannot name any, need to google)
