New CPU problem with .TS

Postby daWsOn_s » Sun May 13, 2007 1:55 pm

I now need to record more than one audio stream so I have to use TS recording...well I almost can't. Recording in TS during watching it's pratically impossible cause CPU usage stays always up to 90%, the video sometimes blocks and I "feel" it affects system stability and I shouldn't use PC if I want a good record. If I record in renderless mode it's better but not good (cpu at 65-70%)...so why this? I don't remember if it's a known bug!
I have to say again that in progdvb rederless mode, watching, recording in mpeg2 or ts is the same thing: 25% or 8-10%...WHY DVBDREAM DOES NOT??

PS: does somebody know something about rel, is everything allright with him and what about this project development?

Thanks

What channel is it? Is it SD, or HD channel? Do you have tried also other channels - same result?

I don't have any problems, even when watching and recording 3 channels at once, in TS, all audio pids, CPU usage is 70%.

Rel should be back soon, more here:

Yes I tried with different channels, they're all in SD.
But I now have another problem, after this DVBdream crash it doesn't work anymore :( Everytime I try to start it says:

cannot initialize DVB hardware! Error code:1

I tried to reinstallar drivers, dvbdream in the same and another directory but I can't solve it, I've never seen it before, BUT I'M SURE I DIDN'T CHANGE ANYTHING and the surprise is that altdbv still works fine.

3 channel in TS?? Oh my GOD my computer will explode! It did with one..

Nevermind, it was a Directx problem

Anyway, what codecs and rendering do you use?

I use ATI and VMR now, but you should try as many codecs and renderers as you can, since it's different for every PC - and check the CPU usage in Win. task manager, Processes tab - dvbdream.exe. In DD status bar it's just overal CPU usage.

I tried with dscaler, nero, cyberlink, elecard and VMR rendering, but it's the same thing...when I press record (in ts) the image starts freezing

Strange, what about VMR9, Overlay? Try also Sonic, InterVideo or nVidia, or ffdshow. Perhaps it's a conflict, try to uninstall any 'all in one' codec pack.

Are them free...

According to me it's the same bug never solved with TS and CPU---I mean the software should record at the same cpu as just watching (justo progdvb and altdvb)...so why also just mpeg2 recording increases a lot the cpu?

I use ATI, it's free, just install ATI AVIVO, also ffdshow is free (more here), not sure about the others.

BTW Please remove the banner from your signature, it's really annoying. Thanks.

It happens that the issue related here is very strange.

I'm used in recording channels in TS format (all PIDS) on three different computers (*) (also tested on a powerless computer) and I've never encountered such a problem.

Codecs I've tested are : nVidia PureVideo - PDVD 7.0 - PDVD 7.2 - FFDShow - Intervideo WinDVD 7 - Nero Digital

(*)
1/ Athlon XP 3200+ - 1024 Mo RAM - GeForce 6600 GT - Pinnacle PCTVSat
2/ Athlon 64 3500+ - 2048 Mo RAM - GeForce 7900 GS - Terratec Cinergy 1200 DVBS
3/ Pentium D920 (2 x 2.8 Ghz) - 2048 Mo RAM - GeForce 7600 GS - Twinhan DTV-CI (alias VP1030a)

That's what I was planning to ask you to do

If you want to record a TS stream and you have high CPU usage - try to switch to renderless mode (ctrl+k) .

Edit:

Sorry - i don't read topic properly.

It's not a real solution, it should work better even without a renderless mode.

Hi, I have formatted the PC, now the problem doesn't show and the CPU usage is normal

Anyway do you think there's a way to set each recording in mpeg or ts? Cause I usually use mpeg to record some promo from tv cause it's faster to edit with VirtuaDub but if I forget to change to TS my scheduled record will not record all audio pids.

Thanks :D

to record all audio pids in ts you need to go to the option > preference > record >ts > choose > all audio pids
KNC 1 dvb-S2 + pctvsat
diseq 19.2° - 13° - 28.2° - 23.5°
