after entering the Reg-Key DD shuts down and never starts again. What's on there?
Reboot takes no effect.
(Windows 7,
intel(R) Core i5-2400 CPU @ 3.1 GHz 3.40 GHz,

Im not sure if this is Your case, but try to check in DD folder for files with 0 length
In my case DD sometimes when closing unexpectedly damaged its config files or even maked them 0bytes long
Registration is stored in registry as far as i can tell, but in my case most startup failures were caused by corrupt settings.cfg file
Deleting it solved DD not sarting problem for me in 99% of cases.

use ddfix tool , download it from the registered users area of the site.
then delete all DD files.
then install it again after a restart.
