that is not normal, which dvb device(card) and which sats/channels did you try? it was same on all channels?

is it same when you play the recorded files on another player like VLC or Media player classic?

This is a new problem that appeared since Version 1 of DVB Dream and nobody seems to care about or complain....???

I posted about this before interruption of our forum but no solution came up.

Recording an "mpeg" file on "most NOT all" channels eg.Arte (French-German) on hotbird (a FTA channel) makes the CPU gradually crazy and hectic .This picture is the first to suffer and the sound may also deteriorate till complete hang-up if you persist trying. This does not happen when trying to record BBC World although doubling of CPU usage occurs.

For the time being all new versions of DVB Dream failed..(Till the last one 1.1h)

The only advice I can give you is to record "ts" files and then pass them through another program like PVA to get "mpeg"

I hope one day, a genius will come out with the right version

How long I should record? What codec, renderer?

I tried Arte, ffdshow, VMR9, few minutes, no problem. Perhaps only Twinhan problem?

Thank you very much Dreamer for your help..
In fact Arte channel you mention is the one,no mistake here and it is just an example...It happens since the first few seconds till rapid complete CPU overload..
As for the codecs,I tried with 3 or 4 (Nvidia pure,elecard,sonic...) with exactly the same result...
This happens only with version 1 not with 0.8 and previous..
Tried with both included renderer and VMR and VMR9...

Only recording mpeg2 no problem with ts...
May be something to do with the card itself as you say...Thank you again..

I had a similar problem with version 1.1f and h (g worked fine but..)

When I first installed 1.1f I would get choppy/stuttering video and audio, every channel, any codec. It was worse when recording.
CPU was not choking, plenty of power, version .87 was still working on same computer just fine. In fact CPU usage was lower with this condition.

I re-installed, same folder, works perfectly.
(If I recall I installed g over f which may explain why it worked)

Don't know why or how but that was it.

I currently have .87b, 1.1g and 1.1h all on machine, all work well.

Since version 1 and this very annoying problem started..

All the succeeding versions (till 1.2c) failed to find a solution to recording in mpeg..and even in ts on some channels...eg.On RAIUNO (HotBird)...Recording Miss Italia .....The CPU went crazy.. It is also true that the new miss was not exactly the most beautiful..

hi,

Can you try v1.2d doing a clean install (it will be released today)

If it doesnt fix the problem, (likely it wont), I will try to change memory management routines.

There are two possible reasons I can think of for the problem
- Slow memory copying
- Slow disc access (dont know what to do for that at the mo)
DVB Dream - because I have to dream about having time to code it

Thank you very much Rel for your attention.

I finally could download the new version (1.2d)...After installation it acted like the previous version (1.2c)...Sorry,no improvement yet..

P.S. There is an additional bug in the overlay: it is too bright..Even after correcting it through the dislay card "reset",it keeps returning every time I change channels...
