1.4a - crashtest dummy ?

the bugs that are most likely related to user configuration (like a specific hardware, codec or driver prob) or impossible to find a logical reason at the moment. The problems in this category might be fixed in future versions as users keep confirming them with additional information.

1.4a - crashtest dummy ?

Postby ScanMan » Mon Nov 05, 2007 1:06 am

A lot of probs with new 1.4a.

I deleted the 1.4 first and removed DDSOURCE.AX from system.

- Sometimes it will run for approx. 1-2 miunutes > crash in module PSISDECD.DLL (MS SI/PSI-parser)
- Mostly every start will take a long time until pictures appears.
- The having constantly crash in module DDSOURCE.AX
- Whe i tried BDA_ALL instead of BDA native, DD crashes in module IVIVIDEO.AX (my intervideo-codec)
- Also in module UNKNOWN.

That all happens when using my SkyStar USB plus.
Trying TwinHan 1041:

- BDA native still won't recognize the card.
- Machine works in 'slow motion' during init and waiting for a picture.
- Than same procedure as above.

After every crash you can see DD beeing resistent in memory (Taskmanager) with mem allocated between 125 and r.a. 200 MB.

Hi ScanMan,
- Sometimes it will run for approx. 1-2 miunutes > crash in module PSISDECD.DLL (MS SI/PSI-parser)
Have you applied this patch for Windows : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/896626/en-us ?
(What's the revision of PSISDECD.DLL on your computer ? It should be at least 6.5.2600.2640)

Can not reproduce other reported issues nor with my Terratec 1200 DVB-S, nor with my Terratec 2400i DT. At the time I wrote this message I was using 3 instances of DD at the same time (1 for DVB-S and 2 for DVB-T) and did not encountered any issue.

I haven't tried this new release with my other DVB cards, so I can not say if issues you encounter are related to hardware. I'll try it with my Twinhan VP1030A very soon

ddsource.ax uses a different CLSID in v1.4a

I'm "copy-past"ing the post I wrote in another forum:

You can disable "Reset DS" now on v1.4a and above, that way it should work better.

Problem seems to happen when user or DD itself tries to reset DirectShow. I haven't checked yet but probably ddsource.ax has a problem in deinitialization routines.

you might need to increase buffer size for MPEG2 and H264 Video to prevent crashes.
e.g.
MPEG Video = 10 MB instead of 2 MB
H264 Video = 64 MB instead of 16 MB
Audio = 1024 KB instead of 32 KB
(These values just for v1.4a, v1.4b defaults will be better)
...
v1.4b might be released today. It takes time this version to be stable enough with the new source filter. I recommend v1.3c for daily usage. and v1.4x for tests

moving the thread to "Undetermined"

please report one thread per issue.

I've fixed the some problems in ddsource.ax, so v1.4b should be better (less crash :P ).
