well i only watch hd as a rule. I switched to a standard resolution and the rendering was fine so i supect it might be something to do with h264 or whatever it's called.

i don't think it's an overheating problem. It was fine even before i put the evo in. I put the vlc player in and that streams just fine. sadly still not in dvbdream. does it use any third party activex or library that the previous version didn't?

the only thing that changed is i upgraded from 2.7 to 2.71. i used the same codecs that worked before. yes i was origionally using bmr9. no differet. I don't understand the statistics info. well i used 2.7. worked ok, volume was too quiet but i recorded an watched later. that worked ok. 2.7.1 same codecs, render still frame. buffer constantly overflowing. not happy.

i try to set a timed recording either via the epg or directly and it won't schdule. no errors are reported but no schedule is added to the list.

indeed but when i set them to the same codec, the audio renderer is in red, in fact it's red regardless of what codec I use,

I don't think it's a codec problem or there wouldn't be sound on the recorded playback

That's the codec it's currently set to. it's weird. it can't be a codec things as it plays the sound when i play back the recording, just not when i watch live.

the wierd thing is i got it to record hd with sound but it doesn't play it until i watch the recording. if i watch hd tv live, no sound but if i record and play it back there's sound.

tried quite a few including the two you mentioned. intervideo caused the hd to freeze and the other one doesn't work in xp 32. might work on windows 7 64 though.
