Twinhan BDA drivers..Do they work?

Postby compuwade » Mon Nov 20, 2006 5:45 pm

I recently decided to install the BDA drivers for my twinhan 102g card and they crashed DD. So much so that I had to reinstall because I didn't see anywhere in the ini to change what device I was using. Are twinhan BDA drivers working in DD? I'm somewhat confused between the difference in BDA and WDM drivers anyway. Whats the advantage of using BDA drivers over WDM?

Thanks

Just delete settings.cfg file in DD root directory

WDM is hardware specific driver.
You have to know how to talk to this driver to be able to use it with your application. Very often, you need SDK to do it.

BDA is some kind general standartization of the drivers.
If the app is working with one BDA driver, it would work with other as well (even the new hardware did not exist when program was written).

Unfortunatelly, DISEQC communication was not included in BDA architecture.
Thus (while BDA is perfect for DVB-t and DVB-c) it's a PITA to use it with DVB-s (unless you don't need diseqc).

Cool! Thank you very much for that explaination. So really it's not necessary to use BDA drivers if WDM drivers are working just fine. In fact if you are using DVB-S you want to stay away from BDA if all possible.

Thanks again for that explaination.
