How do I install these codecs to show up into video options?

Postby dubs66 » Thu May 03, 2007 10:00 pm

Ok. I have read but i'm just not understanding this. I have powerdvd 7 and windvd 8 installed on my computer. I'm trying to get this H.264 codec to show up in the video option. How do I do this? Is it just as simple as installing these programs on my computer and then they automatically show up in my video options in DD?? I don't get it. Thanks for any help I can get. Yeah i'm a noob to this codec stuff. I didn't ever have to go through this with my nexus-s in hardware mode. I am now using a SS2 so this is all new to. I'm trying to do the HD thing but don't have a clue about how to get these codecs to work.

Hi,
I dont use anymore PowerDVD or WinDVD as they are mostly dedicated to their dvd players.Istead I use Nvidia Pure Video Decoder for HD-mpeg2 channels and MainConcept h.264 decoder for HD-h.264 channels.
If You want to try, follow steps below:
-from Elecard.com download ProgDVB,Mpeg player,DVD player,XMuxer and PlugIn for those programs (all try versions)
-from MainConcept.com-customer products download MainConcept h.264 demo
-from Addisonsw.com RegDrop 3.2
-unpack and install above programs (do not put check-marks when installing elecards programs)
-make new folder on desktop
-open listed above program folders one by one and copy file with extension .AX to yours new folder on desktop
-copy and paste all files from new folder to RegDrop-icon
-open DVBdream, you should see MainConcept h.264 in video-screen
-click on gray bar below channel list and put check-mark in h.264 box
If You have any h.264 channels listed click on channel and You should see picture.
PS: My only concern is Yours processor ,check my signature and replace Vista with XP-PRO.Good luck.

i have a dual opteron 939 2.7ghz with a nvidia 7800gs graphics card 2 gigs of ram.

I was getting mismatch audio and horrible freezing of dvbdream. I tried just about every codec

Even though the cpu usage is low seems dvbdream is hung up with h.264 with just about every codec.

although this mainconcepts demo seems a bit better , especially for NTGNHD.

Once i get a channel going, playing with settings is near impossible. Even changing a channel is out of the question without shutting the program down.

My cpu priority is set to normal and disabled use of dual core is set.

Hi,
I have 2 computers-first P4 3.2 ghz and 7900GT video card ,Mainconcept h.264 is working with similar results,second-see signature-working almost perfect (C2D-four operations per clock cycle?).
BTW,yestarday I switched my OS from XP-pro to Vista Ultimate plus 8600GTX and I cannot get Mainconcept h.264 decoder to work at all (a least for now).
