Which codec for SD h264?

Postby Seeker264 » Thu Nov 22, 2007 9:42 am

I recieve SD h264 channels over DVB-T and I got to working everything except proper video codec. With CoreAVC I get the picture but... CoreAVC sux. Quality when decoding with it sux. ffdshow (obviously) doesn't work. With Cyberlink 2.x (newest PowerDVD 7) I also get the picture, but it is desynced with sound and strangely smooth.

So which codec do you prefer for SD h264?

And why the *something* isn't ffdshow and many others working? This should be priority to DD developers. Take a look at opensource program "FripTV" on sourceforge. It decodes h264 TS SD/HD over IPTV with ffdshow or CoreAVC.

At least include ffmpeg h264 (open source high quality h264 codec which ffdshow uses) directly in the DD if you can't get it to work.

Recorded .ts has superb quality (I decode it with ffdshow + AC3Filter + Haali MS).
