Dashed Line at top of recorded .mpg file

This is a great piece of software...sometimes the best things are free...

I notice that when recording .mpg files sometimes there is a white dashed line at the top of the recordings which is there for the entire length of the recording....it doesnt happen with every recording. Can anybody say what this is and what causes it to occur...again it only seems to happen on certain channels.

this is Close Caption (line #21 of NTSC).
It's always outside of the projected area on your TV, that's why you don't see it on TV.
PC does not do such clipping.
