Success With skywalker+cyberlink 7+2600hdxt ati

Postby mizzoutiger » Fri Jan 18, 2008 9:48 am

hi guys just wanted to share my success settings, so that you all can pick it up and play mpeg4 without any issues.

i am using
p4 3.40ghx with 2 gb ram
ati hd 2600 xt video card with 512mb ddr3 mem.

the codecs i am using are cyberlink 7. my cpu usage is only 15%.

the only problem i am having is delay in sound, but i am also using the hdmi output with sound from the video card. which i think is causing the problem. do you guys think if i switch to a audio card and use direct sound will it make difference.

thank you guys and feel free to post any questions about my setup.

thank you

No. It's not your audio output

Postby dishuser123 » Wed Feb 06, 2008 1:21 pm

I have EXACTLY the same problem. Nice picture, but video and audio is out of sync on built into motherboard SPDIF output.
Cyberlink H.264 codecs. Well, at least it's the only codec for me where DXVA is working, CPU 20-30%, GPU 30-40%. On any other codecs my CPU os 100% and GPU 2-3%. I tried CoreAVC, ATI AVIVO.

Anybody has any suggestions?

Best advice is not to use Cyberlink codec's. My advice is to use Intervideo and Arcsoft.. Remove the Cyberlinks codecs from your computer, they cause conflicts.

Is there H.264 Intervideo codecs?

Postby dishuser123 » Thu Feb 07, 2008 6:16 am

Is there H.264 Intervideo codecs? I've only seen MPEG2 and audio. Can somebody point me to the download location? Also ArcSoft ones. Or PM - I will give my email.

Intervideo for audio, ArcSoft for H.264. Check http://www.dvbdream.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1621

Are you sure you want to call it a "success" if your audio is out of synch? :o

Are you in Columbia?

Cyberlink will have audio synch issues on h.264 content. Sound card is not the issue.

I use CoreAVC 1.6.5 for h.264 with Intervideo for audio, and I have no audio sych problems. Arcsoft also works, but I don't think the picture quality is as good. You will still get some dropped frames on 720p h.264, but I'm sure Rel will have that corrected with his promised updates of ddsource.ax.

Check the thread linked in the post above.

100 CPU

Postby dishuser123 » Thu Feb 07, 2008 11:38 am

I do have CoreAVC, but then my CPU is maxing at 100%. I can not get any DXVA out of it. Why CyberLink gives me harware acceleration and CoreAVC doesn't? Is there some sort of config within CoreAVC?

Thanks!

In DD, if you go to Tools->Video, double-click on CoreAVC in the window on the right. You will then see the CoreAVC options. If you're running v.1.6 or greater, you will have a "hardware" option for deinterlace.

On my proc I'm getting about 20-40% CPU usage with h.264.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for this tip, I didn't know about this way of getting to the codec configs directly from within DVBDream. I previously was able to get to the codec properties only via Start-Programs.
I do have CoreAVC v 1.6 and hardware Radio-button for deinterlacing. This however doesn't bring my CPU usage down. On the other hand CyberLink has DXVA button, and this does help immediately.
Is there may be newer version of CoreAVC that would support DXVA. This should do more than just hardware deinterlacing. My version is 1.6.0. I see yours is 1.6.5. I will try finding the latest one? Thanks!!!!

Still no go.

Postby dishuser123 » Thu Feb 07, 2008 8:56 pm

Well ... I tried CoreAVC 1.6.5 and latest ArcSoft, still no hardware acceleration. And none of them had explicit setting for DXVA like in CyberLink.
I think my options are here:

1. Wait till CoreAVC or ArcSoft come up with the new codec versions including DXVA support.
2. Upgrade my CPU and motherboard

Any thoughts?

CoreAVCâ„¢ Standard Edition*
fcoreavcFits perfectly if you want to playback standard H.264 videos like the ones created for the iPod, PSP or High Definition movie trailers found on Apple.com

- H.264 Baseline, Main, High profile support
- No Interlaced support
- No SMP support
- No GPU support

CoreAVCâ„¢ Enterprise Edition* COMING SOON!
Plays everything that CoreAVC Standard Edition does but adds support for windows video systems that need support for SAT TV, IPTV, DVB. For the highend video zealots CoreAVC Professional Edition even supports SMP processors like the Intel® CoreTM 2 Duo, allowing for even fast multitasking while playing back high-definition CoreAVC H.264 video.

- H.264 Baseline, Main, Extended, High, High10, 4:2:2, 4:4:4 support
- Interlaced support (full)
- SMP support
- GPU support

So it's lack of GPU support then.

Postby dishuser123 » Fri Feb 08, 2008 4:53 pm

So CoreAVC is coming with GPU support, we just need to wait. And I guess ArcSoft H.264 doesn't support DXVA either.
Does anybody have any H.264 that supports GPU and runs well on DVBDream? I wish CyberLink would not give me out of sync sound and video issues. Why is this happening? Can it be fixed?
