What changes does DVBDream do to my system?

Postby midix » Fri Feb 26, 2010 10:54 am

I really like DVBDream, it is simple looking and functional, but there is one bad thing. I am using also VLC and sometimes I myself do a bit playing with DirectSHow in graphedit.

And right after I installed DVBDream I cannot put tune requests to my TV tuner.

VLC says:
Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'dvb-t://frequency=658000000'. Check the log for details.
bda warning: SubmitDVBTTuneRequest: Cannot put the locator: hr=0x80020005
bda warning: DVB_Open: Unsupported Network dvb-t
main warning: no access module matching "dvb-t" could be loaded
main error: open of `dvb-t://frequency=658000000' failed: (null)

and in graphedit my tune requests just do nothing.

If I revert my registry (luckily I had a backup) to the point before installing DVBDream, everything works fine again. But as soon as I run DVBDream only once, I cannot put tune requests nor form GraphEdit nor VLC program, even after I restart my PC. Only Windows Media Center works fine, and also DVBDream itself. The only cure is to return my registry to the point before DVBDream was installed. But as soon as I launch DVBDream, BDA breaks again for other programs.

To avoid monitoring DVBDream with some uninstaller software, I guess it would be much faster if someone here could explain, what exactly is happening when I launch DVBDream the first time?

If those are some custom DirectShow filters - no problems, I could make myself a bat file to register/unregister them as I need, just tell me, what and where.

Thanks a lot for great software and hope to get some useful info form developers!

BTW, I am using Windows 7 32 bit.

Edited later.
I found the problem. DVBDream registers its own filter ddsource.ax (btw, what does this filter do?) and also creates new Tuning Space:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Multimedia\TV\Tuning Spaces\DD DVB-T]
@="{C6B14B32-76AA-4A86-A7AC-5C79AAF58DA7}"
"Description"="DD DVB-T"
"Frequency Mapping"=hex:2D,00,31,00
"Name"="DD DVB-T"
"Network ID"=dword:FFFFFFFF
"Network Type"="{216C62DF-6D7F-4E9A-8571-05F14EDB766A}"
"System Type"=dword:00000002

I just played a bit with registering/unregistering this tuning space and am 100% sure that this tuning space makes impossible to use VLC.
So I guess it is more VLC problem that they cannot handle some tuning space - anyway, there might be many tuning spaces on a PC.
