I have been having some streaming issues and may have found a clue. If I record the file as an mpg file, it will playback and stream fine. If I try to record a ts file, it will not open in DD or VLC. Is there something I need to playback, decode, mux etc a ts file so it will allow vlc or dd to open it? Is there a way to choose to stream a mpg instead of a ts file?
Thanks
Won't playback ts files but will mpg

Remember that if there is more than one channel on a given transponder, like that from every direct to home service, recording a TS is recording everything at once. You will need a means of breaking out the piece you want, thus the TS splitter. You won't find any player that works, unless it can split the file, like MPC.
TS is not just a different format like MPG versus AVI.

Thanks for the info. I was able to get it to work using MPC. With what you said, I can't figure out how I was able to get it to work for a short period of time at all with VLC.You won't find any player that works, unless it can split the file, like MPC.

Is there a way to stream a MPG file and not the TS. Like could you stream it after the directshow filters did their thing? I was able to do this by telling it to record, then using VLC to stream the ever growing mpg file. The problem with this approach is that you end up with files that you have to dump at the end of the streaming.
As I said, I have it working with MPC, but would love to understand this more just for the sake of learning.
Hopefully this does not break the rules about asking more than one question in a post... Do you know if you can get MPC to launch from the command line (or batch file) to directly open a stream on the remote computer? I have had a heck of a time finding good MPC documentation/info.
