planning to open an IRC channel for DD, could you join/help other users and developers/me in such an environment?

I will need it simply to be in touch with some users who could make quick beta-tests for "patch versions".

This could also be a possibility for a more interactive community for users too. i.e. when you don't have time for a forum reply, you could simply try to ask your question in IRC.

I haven't decided which server could be used , but have some candidates, please let me know in PM if you have suitable-server suggestions to create such a channel on.

ok, got a channel running on UICN, now we need some users :)

irc.uicn.net #dvbdream

You can use MIRC or another IRC client like VIRC, http://www.visualirc.net which is my favorite

I can recommend another software: Trillian / Trillian Basic (Freeware) - all in one for AIM, ICQ, IRC, MSN and Yahoo! :)

I know that my last posts in this thread have been deleted, but another one...

I tried several times to connect to the IRC channel, but no luck :-(

Maybe the problem is me, I never used IRC, but I can connect to other IRC servers without problem, but with the server used to DD "irc.uicn.net" I always get the same:

Code: Select all

[00:46] You have been K-Lined.
[00:46] =kirra.uicn.net= *** You are not welcome on this network.
[00:46] =kirra.uicn.net= *** K-Lined for [stu] dbnation infested (2008/02/03 17.40)
[00:46] =kirra.uicn.net= *** Your IP is XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX
[00:46] =kirra.uicn.net= *** For assistance, please email KLine@uicn.net and include everything shown here.
[00:46] ERROR: Closing Link: 0.0.0.0 ([stu] dbnation infested (2008/02/03 17.40))
Can someone help me?

tried to email them (at that address)?
I'm not sure why UICN server doesn't like your IP.

Yes I emailed them, waiting response.

The most strange is that I never used IRC, and I can connect to other servers, but irc.uicn.net... :(

EDIT (06/Fev/2008):

After some mails now a can enter in the irc.uicn.net :D

Is anyone on this channel anymore ? or is this just up for certain time frames during a beta release ?

UPDATE: I have logged onto the server and into the DD channel... but I cannot get my UN registered with NickServ... at first the/a admin told me it was due to my gmail account. He/she wiped it clean and then told me to try with a yahoo account... I did that with no luck either... any ideas ?
