Timer recording switch channels

If I have DVBdream on channel 500, and a timer comes up which is set to record channel 500, why does dvbdream switch channels? Can't it skip this step since it is already tuned in to the right channel? Is there a reason for this that I'm missing?
Sometimes em**ation doesn't work after a channel switch (some bug). If I set a recording, and dvbdream was already well tuned to the channel, the recording would have worked. But if dvbdream switches channels (to the same channel) and em**ation fails for whatever reason, the recording is missed.
