Lan Streaming Choking DD

When setting Lan Streaming to a non-existent IP, DD will choke itself. Choppy video. I am suspecting the error reporting from the IP layer is slowing DD down. There should be a threhold for error reporting instead of for every packets.

What kind of streaming are you doing? Non-existing IP? Are you using Unicast? I recommend you use multicast and broadcast to the subnet (x.x.x.255). Unless you have a router that can't handle it (wireless routers can some times choke). I use this all the time and have no issues.

Unicast. I stream it to my laptop sometimes. The laptop is not on all time time. When it goes off, DD will choke.
I have a DI-524 from D-Link. Multicast on wifi will choke it in no time. I really need a better router like DIR-655, but that thing ain't cheap. Sigh....

D-Link and multicast
D-Link routers can't transfer lot of packets at same time
they crash
use router with linux see DDWRT project page
(verry funny Microsoft MN-700 router with linux inside)
