What am I doing Wrong?

Postby sober king » Sun Feb 03, 2008 4:55 pm

Because of freezing issues both in HW and SW running DVBDream8.7b I finally decided to remove the Nexsus S (Best Backup for the past four years), and went back to an older SW card Vision Plus 1020A (Twinhan).

I installed the WMA drivers which came with the card but there is not signal - I thought the LNB had no power - Tried DVBdream1.4I (the latest) - I could not find where within the software I could switch the power ON.

Removed latest version and installed DVBdream8.7b where I can switch the LNB power ON or OFF - Still No signal.

Tried Scanning - Came up with NO SIGNAL - Checked Coax - it is connected at Coax In - changed 6the location to loop out - Still No signal.

When in "Preferences" I clicked at device i can using DD1.4I, start in Twinhan Direct as well Twinhan SDK, therefore I believe I have the right drivers and card is properely installed. Tried driver Twinhan 1.2.3.8n(BDA?) - doen not work had to go back to WMA drivers.

I am at the end of my wits - Any one any HELP? What I am doing worg?

sounds only to familiar to me... my old card was a twinhan, too... go to the twinhans original video-prog (vision DTV or something).
-- if you cannot access the software since it tells you something like card not found, then youre probably using the wrong drivers... i always used these: "TwinHan DTV 2.608 Build 01-02a" but most numbers below should work, too... but if it doesnt work to access the software, then you have to get the correct drivers first... if you can access, follow the following instructions:

click the "scan for new channels"-button or how it is called and now look at the selection above... if you see Satelite or something marked there and terestrical greyed out, then it should work...
BUUT ... if you see terestrical checked and satelite white, so markable, then you have a little problem... i had that bug with my card from time to time and the onlly thing that helped for me was uninstalling the twinhan-drivers completely, then open the computer-case, remove the card and place it into ANOTHER PCI-Slot...
now start your system again, install the proper drivers for the card (get them from http://twinhan.com if you only have a very old version from the cd still)

i know that sucks and is a lot of work, but it worked for me - in most cases...

i hope i was able to help you a bit with your problem...

btw... it _could_ be possible that you have a fake-card, since on the net, i never read about problems like mine with twinhan-cards...
My System: TechniSat SkyStar2 on an AsRock 4COREDUAL-VSTA with an Intel Pentium D 935 or so, 1GB of k*ngston-DDR1-RAM, a GeForce 7600GS, 512MB VGA-RAM, AGP-based...

This was my first card and I used it for about six months with when MT was a Freeware with MT. Then I moved on to DD but had soms issues with CPU useage.

Then I moved on to Nexsus S about four years ago and that card has worked extremely well but for this freeze which started some three or four months ago.

I will remove the drivers and reinstall the one on the disc which came with the card. If that does not work then I will do the last bit as you suggested.

The problem is I installed the card where I removed my Nexsus from - the slot is fine, and that is only empty slot left in my PC.
