Please help - No AC3 sound

Vista Ultimate with or without SP1
Any version of DVBdream from 1.3 to 1.4i
Can not connect AC3 pin from DDsource.ax to any audio codec except "Microsoft MPED-1/DD audio decoder". Microsoft codec will give sound only as AC3 not stereo.
MyTheatre and SageTV are able to use other AC3 codec, like AC3filter and Intervideo, but these codec will not connect in DVBdream. With graphedit "Connect to remote graph", you can see that the audio is not connected, when you try to manually connect the AC3 out on DDsource to a audio codec it says "could not agree".
Recordings contain the AC3 sound and they play back with stereo sound in SageTV.
I have tried everything I can think of, Can someone suggest something to try?
Tried different video card drivers, tried different sound drivers, tried pre SP1 and Post SP1. Tried many different codec filters.

Hey jerry, I don't have vista, but I was wondering -- what do you use for the audio decoder? If FFDShow, I've seen in the settings for it that you can choose between spdif and analog stereo -- could this be related?

FFDshow audio will not connect to AC3 pin on DDsource.ax, but connects fine when DDsource.ax is outputing MPEG audio.
I would believe the problem was with DDsource.ax because other programs can output AC3 to stereo (Mytheatre and SageTV).
But no one else seems to be having this problem, so it must be a set up problem with the motherboard or something?
I may try installing Vista without Media Center!! Don't have any other ideas?

Did you register ddsource.ax? Run ddreg.bat? Maybe try to unregister, then re-register?

Tried running ddreg.bat, tried unregistering and reboot and reregister and reboot, tried different versions of DDsource.ax, tried media center services disabled,...
Good suggestions, Thanks, looking for whatever maybe the problem.
Will try on a XP machine soon.

Tried Vista Basic and still DDsource will not connect with any AC3 codec. These are fresh installs with just a few codec's installed.
Any sugestions??
Do people have AC3 outputing in stereo in Vista?

dumb question (I'm not the expert in Vista).
Shouldn't you run ddreg.bat as administrator (explicitly, not just a user with administrative rights)?
also dumb question: did you remove "rem" in front of de-register line in ddreg.bat ?

The only AC3 decoder that I've had any luck with is intervideo.
I haven't spent much time trying to figure out why but it works well for me.
Worth a try.

Verified DDsource.ax was registered correctly as administrator by using third party codec tool. no differenence.
Yes, would agree that the "REM" in ddreg.bat does not belong there, so I registered another way.
Was using Intervideo audio from WinDVD 9, tried Intervideo audio 8 and dvbdream is able to create the graph just fine. (Thanks Klyston) But still no sound!! Intervideo audio property page is showing stereo as selected output, input as AC3, which should be fine.
No matter what I select for audio renderer I get "Audio renderer" in the graph. The two selections are "Default direct sound device" and "Speakers (RealTek high definition)". MyTheatre shows Default direct sound device in graphs.
How does Dvbdream select audio renderer? It is not listed as a audio renderer on this computer? Is there some kind of guids file for renderers?
Thanks for the help...

I end up using nVidia audio codec. FFDShow is the audio codec of choice forme, but like you, it won't work with DD and AC3. Unfortunate since it is entirely the most configurable audio codec package available.
I hope this is fixed in the next version.
