XP SP3 Install woes

Postby thr0tt » Sat Apr 26, 2008 9:50 am

Hi,

Just want to say a fantastic app and I had just got to the sweet spot with recording, playing etc. using ffdshow for both audio and video.

Now the bad news, I just installed XP SP3 and I can no longer select ANY audo / video codec combination as they show red in either box. When searching for channels (as I unstalled / reintsalled) then all the channels show no signal.

Thinking the device had stopped I reinstalled the BDA drivers that worked before and tried ProgDVB which works fine but I find it a lesser product and I really want DVBDream to work again.

Where do I start apart from rolling back the SP for XP :(.

Anyone else had / having this issue ?

Rolled back and removed SP3, all back again working well.

Now to figure out what screws it up in SP3.

I did try an reinstall the codecs which didn't work.

I too had the RC SP3 before and didn't have this issue, the RTM version (final) only came out a couple of days ago so I doubt you have the same SP3 as I do, and the reason I used this instead was due to the fact some of the applications like RDP stopped working as they are time coded but I am sure you would have come across those issues already if you used them.

May try another time to see what it could be as it was only DD that didn't work afterwards - is there a simple way to re-register or will the reinstall just do the job ? I don't want to be running cli /regsvr *.ax all over the place although it may be worth a shot.

Thanks for that, I think G-Spot can also do that but not sure.

I think it has to do with not recognising the DVB-T USB device since SP3, whereas it worked perfectly b4, I have now checked and the ffdshow for bot audio and video are correct but it still doesn't try and activate the USB stick. Any ideas as to what I can do to kick it into life ? The other app works with SP2 or 3 so there must be something with DD that is changed by the SP install...

Until it is recognised as a problem with the way SP3 interacts with DVB Dream then there is little we can do apart from roll back to SP2 which works well.

No official news from DD so until the SP3 hits the masses we have to wait.
