Installing DVBepg

Could someone point me in the right direction on how to install DVBepg as per say a link or tutorial. Also does DVBepg have to reach out to the internet to be updated or is it updated on the transponder stream? Any help appreciated.......

Copy the mod file and the skins folder into the modules folder. Tune to vh1cl.
No Channels in DVBepg

I came back to DVBepg after a few years and extracted it to /Plugins as recommended in other posts (I also tried it in /modules).
The problem is that there are no channels shown, just an empty box pops up when I start DVBepg from inside DD.
I tried it in different versions of DD and same problem. I tried moving around the channels file but no luck.
I have .Net framework and Visual C++ installed (for N3xt plugin).
I have a good signal and can watch tv, but DVBepg doesnt know I have any channels scanned.
