Technisat Skystar 2 = HDTV?

I have read in a few places that the Skystar 2 with the right drivers can receive HDTV. Is this right or have the authors meant to refer to the HD version of the card?

So you mean I can receive HD channels via DVDream also with my "regular" Creatix/CTX DVB-S/T card (when I have a correct H.264 decoder like the Cyberlink or Elecard)?DVB-s cards don't even know what's inside digital stream (SD or HD; mpeg2, mpeg4, or mpeg6).
They simply pass entire transport stream to the host PC.
thus, any card can receive HDTV (including skystar 2).
Ok, so you don't need an DVB-S2 card then? Are there many HD channels in DVB-S1?if its transmitted in DVB-S 1 ...yes
It all depends on what is transmitted by satellites which you can see.Are there many HD channels in DVB-S1?

Since I'm on other side of the globe, I can not tell much about what you can get with DVB-s card.
Surely, with DVB-S2 card you can get more channels (DVB-S2 can tune to everything DVB-s does, plus some more).
Keep in mind, neither DVB-s nor DVB-S2 cards do audio/video decoding.
They don't care about SD or HD. They care about signal modulation only (and they pass transport stream to PC).
The rest is done by your CPU/GPU and codecs.
Thanks for this too! I am on your side of the world. I am interested in 119W DN have you any experience of this bird?It all depends on what is transmitted by satellites which you can see.Are there many HD channels in DVB-S1?
