Trial version of DD hangs on exit

I really like DD and intend to purchase if I can fix this problem. DD hangs every time I exit. I've no plug-ins installed and can't find a settings.ini file to delete as per the faq. I tried to update the driver using the 1.3.8.8 download from the Compro site, but for some reason, running the downloaded .exe doesn't actually seem to do anything. Any ideas? Seems like a great program until I'm finished with it.
