DvbDream controlling a Dish Pro DP34 or DPP44 multiswitch

Postby GrahamGo » Thu Sep 30, 2010 10:45 pm

I am completely confused about SWxx, DisQue, DP34 etc etc.

I have 2x dual DP lnb's, ie two satellite signals and I want to feed 2x receivers. One of which is a Skystar 2 & DvbDream. The other receiver a dishn** one.

I would like to use a DP34 or DPP44 in anticipation using a 3rd and 4th receiver.

I have read some posts hinting that it is possible to control the switch with DvbDream using the DiSEqc method.

a). Is it true?
b). If so could someone give me some detail

Thanks!

a) yes
b) DP and DPP assemblies are power hungry monsters. You will have to use a power inserter with them (DPP44 comes with its own; for DP34 you have to buy it separately).

Thanks, I went ahead and got a DP34, actually i find that it works fine with a skystar 2 as it's sole power source. (DP34 + 2 LNB's)

Diseqc Port1 = dish1, Diseqc Port2 = dish2

not for long.
"DP34 + 2x DP LNBs" need more power then your SkyStar 2 can permanently provide.
Expect hick-ups in reception (until you have a dedicated power supply connected to this switch).

Thanks, I fixed it by adding an old Dishnetwork receiver - thanks
