dvbdream.exe comes up and windows immediately stopped working and says it is checking for a solution. i had a problem getting it installed because i only bought it to view the dvr files i have saved from my pvr-800 receiver running my satellite antenna. i want to put the saved files on my laptop and play them for a woman from poland here in humphrey. charlie

you do not need DVB-s application to watch recordings.
You need a player.
There are plenty of free players to do that: Media Player Classic, VLC, etc.

vlc can be found here http://videolan.org/ and its opensource media player capable of plain ts streams shoud work with your recordings

i will check it out. there is a new version of the firmware for the receiver that has ps and ts files listed. however, after a while the receiver locks up and i went back to the firmware that has 'dvr' files. charlie

You can use pvastrumento http://offeryn.de/ it can be used to convert different flavours ofsat record files to plain ts or mpeg2 files not sure if its handling h264 at all if you record HD streams
