[SOLVED] Help Setting Genpix/SG-2100/Diseqc Switch/LNB

Postby shadetree » Thu Dec 22, 2011 5:21 pm

Installed DDv1.7.1 with a Genpix Skywalker-1, latest GP Windows USB driver and unified driver.

Now I just can't seem to get the switch/port/motor set up going to see or move anything to finish the installation.

I duel boot with Linux and that setup works fine but I want to switch to Windows for native hardware, BD and 3D support.

Have searched but not found any clear info for motor control, switch setup for DD.

hi
difficult to help without knowing your diseqc / motor type and configurations
nothing different for W7 setup
you can try to find similar posts on the internet or on DD forum for switch configuration and how to setup it on DD
DVB Dream - because I have to dream about having time to code it

Sorry, thought the subject was enough.

Hardware: SW-1 / SG-2100 DISEQC Positioner / chita 4X DISEQC Switch on port 1 / Invacom L/C LNB on cicular port.

Settings: DISEQC 4X switch / port 1 / ka cicular lnb / 110w.

At motor panel set lat & lon USALS, go to and nothing, reboot and tried moving without usals reboot with same results.

Have searched/searching but nothing conclusive.

I booted back to Linux and moved the dish to 110W it locked at 100+% signal and 100+% quality then booted to Win/DD with nothing.

Is there a log I can upload for a better description of configuration and settings?

Sorry, thought the subject was enough.

Hardware: SW-1 / SG-2100 DISEQC Positioner / chita 4X DISEQC Switch on port 1 / Invacom L/C LNB on cicular port.

Settings: DISEQC 4X switch / port 1 / ka cicular lnb / 110w.
Sorry, but from this explanation I'm not exactly sure why do you use Diseqc switch.
If you have just port 1 connected, you can do the same without switch at all.

You also said nothing about your settings for LNB (lofs and sw).
I bet you set there something wrong, that's why you can not tune.

try do the following:
1) start DebugView (MS utility)
2) start DVB Dream (you said that you use the latest gp_unified.dev; I hope you know what you are talking about, otherwise this test would do nothing)
3) try to scan few transponders (left and right)
4) try to send motor command(s)
5) stop DVB Dream

attach your DebugView dump (if it's long, do it as attachment, don't flood the thread with very long dump)

PS: personally, for LNB type you use I'd select "Legacy LNB" (which has just one settings - lof, and in your case it's 11250 MHz).

My system useses C and L outputs of the Invacom through the chita 4X with the SkyWalker but I'm trying to keep setup test simple to get it going first.

I should be able to get a signal lock with it already pointed on a strong sat so I will change the LNB settings you suggested first and post back the output of DebugView if nothing is acquired.

Thank you

Genpix,

Your LNB choice was correct, locked and scanned.

I will test the positioner and update.

Thanks again!

btw, for L output of that LNB I would use "Legacy LNB" settings as well (just change lof to 10750MHz).

On a side note, I'd not use chieta diseqc switch in this config.
two reasons:
1) Chieta switches are horrible (they have much bigger signal attenuation then they write on the label)
2) motor itself may attenuate a diseqc command a little bit. This may cause intermittent switching on the diseqc switch mounted after the motor.

I have the same motor and the same LNB assembly, and I use tone switch there.
I connected Off-input to liner LNB output, and On-input to Circular LNB output.

Then, in all software applications, and all standalone receivers (dreambox, etc.) i use a simple config:
I say that I have one LNB with the following configuration:
lof1 = 10750
lof2 = 11250
lof-sw = 12200

Whatever INI file I use, receiver/software automatically sets Tone (according to requested frequency) and seletcts proper LNB output.

PS: my tone switch is very cheap (less then $5), but insertion loss is much better then that of Chieta switch.

The motor is swithcing perfect to all the positions I have stored using the chita switch.

And you are correct about the chita. I had to use that same tone setup with the other dvb-s2 tuner in this receiver with a diseqc controller for the motor positioner, 10' dish for the ka/c LNB with a long 300' cable run of rg11u bc plenum with no switch or DC polarization issues. I had a chita on it first with very unstable results.

I think I will change chita out after winter to tone.

Thank you very much for sharing your expertise Genpix
