Hi:
I have a couple of questions on installing DVBdream 2.2b.
I have a i3 processor running on an ASRock Z77ProM-4 motherboard, 89Gb mem, 320 and 1T Sata drives, FusionHDTV7 TV card, DVBSky2 s2 card and using the onboard graphics with HDMI output.

I previously had an openbox sat receiver pulling down my links. I pulled the cable off that and plugged into the 2nd input for the DVBSky2. I am running Windows 8 and Ubuntu/Mythbuntu. I have not gotten the card to work on Mythbuntu yet. It is working on Windows 8 (to a degree - I am getting sound but no picture.)

DVBdream reports the following
video codec MS v12.0.9200
Audio codec MS 12.0.9506
Video Render: Vido Mixing Rederer 0
Audio: Default DirectSound device
H.264, AC3 and AAC are v 12.0.9506

Questions:
a) How can I update the satellite list? I recall seeing how to add TP, but I did not see if there is a way to edit the list or import a list of satellites.

b) Should I see a picture from the DVBdream out of the box or do I need to add additional codecs?

c) Any suggestions on how to get the video working?

d) Is there an installation manual for the software? I saw the tutorial, but it is not complete and does not exactly match the software.

Try to change the video renderer. If you have sound , already half way through. then you have simply problem with codecs. MS codecs should work fine but maybe the channel you are trying to see have a different video format. Try on an SD channel. Install Intervideo codecs , you can install Demo of WinDVD or PowerDVD to get their codecs in DVB Dream.

To add a satellite , (if it doesn't appear in diseqc dialog) you need to create a freqeuency list INI file with notepad or any text editor similar to those ones in \transponders folder of DVB Dream (check the folder where you installed DVB Dream) , then place it there the same way. You can download INI file from various web sites like kingofsat.


on Windows 7 MS codecs would work out of box immediatey. but on Windows 8 you will need to install codecs..

No other tutorials but actually it shouldn't be that complicated to set up DVB Dream.

Installing new codecs is exactly what I needed to do. Video comes in find now. I used a Codecs from MajorGeek.com then reinstall the demo and it fired right up.

I am running USAL so it is important to be able to scan many satellites to pull in all the channels. I loaded up all the satelites (one by one) into my pull down, but I don't see a way to do an autoscan all of them. When ever I press the scan button, it just seems to work on the satelite shown in focus. Do I have to manually scan in the channels for each one, or is there something else I should do. The ini file you mentioned is that just to get the list or will it address my problem. Also, during scan, it seems like it will only operate at certain times. For instance if I have a station tuned to the satelite I want to scan, the scan button doesn't seem to work (or at least not immediately). Usually, I fool around a bit and it will then scan. I figured out what the prerequisites are though.

You have to scan satellites one by one . Each INI file defines frequency list only for one single satellite. Scan normally should start as soon as you click on the button in "Auto scan" tab, if you are on the same satellite already. (if you configured USALS, it might wait for dish to move to correct position.) So some other thing might be causing problem. Quite difficult to say what, maybe codecs, modules or plugins.. Or maybe other applications cause slow down.

Thanks again. Anyway to run a batch file to do multiple scans (50+ satellites)? Or I guess another option is to use my Openbox receiver to do the scans then copy its channel/sat files convert them to DD's format and maybe that will work? Or is this a feature the developers are working on?
