VMR and VMR9 doesn't work but Overlay does

When I try to use the video mixing render option in the Video menu, I get a blank screen and no video. Overlay mixing renderer and Generic mixing renderer does work. I prefer VMR over any of them (including VMR9) because the video is much smoother on my system and uses a LOT less resources than Overlay. I did noticed that H.264 was missing, but I reinstalled PowerDVD 7 and it shows up now. Can't figure out what else is wrong. Any help? It was working fine yesterday and nothing now and I haven't isntalled/uninstalled anything. Btw I upgraded to 1.2e and it still doesn't work.

Do you mean, only H264 channels don't work with VMR, or all channels? Did you try more codecs?

BTW VMR and VMR9 works good here.

Hardware: AMD Athlon 64 3000+, 1GB RAM, ATI RX800 256MB, SB Audigy 2 Value, SkyStar 2 r2.3, Dish-Offset 120cm...
Software: Windows XP SP2, DirectX 9.0c, ATI Catalyst Driver 6.9, TechniSat DVB 4.4.0, Abakt, avast! Antivirus, Avant Browser, DVB Dream, FFDShow, Free Download Manager, freeCommander, HotkeyP, Kerio Personal Firewall, Media Player Classic, Nero, OpenOffice.org, Orca Browser, Photofiltre, PTBSync, Skype, Spybot, Trillian, Xnview, ZipGenius...

Tried VMR with 4:2:0 feeds and it works, but it won't work with 4:2:2. Overlay and Generic work with 4:2:2 though.

Did download and install FFDShow, and it works with VMR. But I can't get Elecard to work anymore. It has worked in the past (yesterday!) but not now. Right now I'm watching the Clemson vs LaTech game on SBS6 (12105H SR13235). Works good with FFDShow, but once I switch over to Elecard or nVidia, it won't work without Overlay (which looks pretty rough). This is pretty smooth, but Elecard would probably be better. Right now CPU load is at about 50% with some of the extra stuff turned on in FFDShow. There ain't no way I'm gonna be able to watch some 4:2:2 HD stuff @ about 30 Mbps...I was hoping to do it with Elecard. Is there something that could've gotten corrupted? Like I said, Elecard and VMR will handle 4:2:0, but all I get is audio with 4:2:2.

I can't help you if you don't answer my questions.

SBS6 (12105H SR13235) - but what satellite?? And only this channel, or all?? All HDTV, H.264, or SDTV (non HDTV) channels? I know one SBS6 from 19E:

CHANNEL
Name: "SBS6" Provider: "CANALDIGITAAL"
TRANSPONDER
12574000, H, 22000000 QPSK FEC 5/6
Satellite: 0192 - Astra 1A-H, 2C

...but it's scrambled, I need FTA channel to test, press Ctrl+C to copy channel info, then Ctrl+V here to paste.

And - are you sure you didn't use a trial version of Elecard?

Try also other codecs - nVidia, Sonic... For H.264 Cyberlink, CoreAVC (you have to select H.264 codec separately).

hi,
Try to re-install Directx 9, then re-install the codecs you use. (Elecard etc) One of the programs or drivers recently installed might have replaced DirectShow filters on the system.

Sorry...I'm not used to refering to satellites in longitude form. It was SBS6 as in 74.0W. And it was a wild feed, not a FTA feed. I tried some of the NBC feeds on 103W, and they didn't work either. No, it is ALL 4:2:2 (whether it be HD or SD) content, not just that one feed. I tried Elecard, nVidia, Cyberlink codecs. I don't have another H.264 codec. I'm not sure whether it is a trial version or not...I didn't register them so I guess it's a trial version, they came with ProgDVB Elecard version. Like I said, the only codec that will work is FFDShow.

Thanks rel. I believe you're probably right...my codec just need to be reinstalled.

That was it! I had re-installed DirectX 9 before and it didn't change, but after I reinstalled the Elecard codec, things are as good as new!
