1.2e - H.264 codecs missing from the list

Postby manik » Mon Oct 02, 2006 5:01 pm

Hello to all from Greece and nice to find you here!!
Dvbdream is a great program and I use it a lot with my SS2. :D
My first post here is about a bug ? I found in 1.2e version.
Specifically the bug is in menu Options-->Video--> and H.264 Codec field.
Until 1.2d version in the drop-down menu there were four codecs (Cyberlink H.264 PDVD7, Nero H.264, Intervideo H.264, FFDShow H.264).
When I installed 1.2e the only codec that was present in the list was Cyberlink's.The other had gone like a miracle, but I hadn't unistalled them!!
So did anybody else paid attention to this or is just me ?

Thanx. :D

Yes. confirmed.
But i think is not bug.
You must to use an older guids.ini file... or edit current

Hi freewind and thanx for the reply.
Indeed the problem was in guids.ini file.
In section [H264_CODECS] of the file and from line H264CODEC3=MainConcept Demo H.264/AVC downwards there were semicolons at the beginning of each line.
The solution is to delete all semicolons and you 'll have codecs back in DVBDream!!

What codecs work? All those codecs should be enabled by default. But make sure the codec you test is really working, there is no "red" background and it's not easy to see if THAT codec is working, or other, because it's automatically switched to other codec.

Hi Dreamer.
I think that you didn't understood the problem.
Wasn't about non working codecs but about missing codecs from the drop down menu in H.264 field inside DvbDream.
As I described in my previous post the reason was some semicolons that were present in guids.ini in [H264_CODECS] section
of the file and the solution is to delete them so to have the codecs installed in your system back in the list of DVBDream.

Cheers.

No, I know what you mean, those semicolons were added on purpose - because Rel thinks they don't work (IMO). Therefore I asked that - please confirm what H.264 codecs work, I think Rel will remove those semicolons then.

Really, looking this issue for second time, I found out this crazy thing, ...I don't know if this is a bug or not.
In my system I have two H264 codecs: Nero & Cyberlink.
Image Image

I'm talking about :
  • H264CODEC3=Nero H.264 , {C0BA9CF8-96E0-4C34-B5DE-E92C3FC05ED6}
Nero Avc codec, at previus dvbdream version until 1.2e (1.2a,b,c,d), works perfectly!

This codec in 1.2e althouhgt is recognized does NOT work.!
It seems like the power of cpu is missing!!

What's going on, brothers?

following codecs will work fine in next version with DD
- CoreAVC H.264
- ATI H.264
- Cyberlink H.264

For v1.2e, only codec that is guaranteed to work is Cyberlink H.264

I've never been able to get Nero h.264 to work. I will try to find and test with the version you have (v3.2.0.30 from the screenshots)
DVB Dream - because I have to dream about having time to code it

Hi rel,
This version of nero codec is included at the last version of Nero 6 (6.6.14)

...As the Cyberlink H264 codec with 1.2e, it operates really well!
