Anyway to edit chlist.lst (dvbepg issue).

First off thanks for a great product.

Now a couple of minor issues. I have noticed that it is very easy for DVBEPG to loose track of channel names and what satellite they belong to. I have managed to cause such a problem by simply deleting a channel in the channel list or by rescanning a transponder. The result is quite random but countless channels loose their names and what satellite they belong to therefore they will no longer show up in DVBEPG guide when selecting to display just known channels. I was hoping that there was a way to edit the channel list and thus prevent having to delete and rescan everything (this is the only way that I have found to get the channels to be recognized again).

Second, is there a way to change channel by just typing in the channel number (SID)? When I try that the numbers appear on the OSD but nothing happens and they just go away.

1st off, are you sure that DVBEPG is losing the channel names or is it possible that the EPG data for that channel is not populated? I've noticed that if there is no EPG data for a particular channel it will not show up in the guide. However, if you tune to the proper transponder for EPG population the channel will reapear within seconds. I do not know how to edit the channel list but you shouldn't need to if you make sure you have 24 to 48hrs of EPG data.

As far as typing in the channel numbers, I'm wondering the same thing. Doesn't work with the keyboard or the remote.

There is EPG data. As matter of fact if you select to show all knownchannels (not just known channels) the data is still there. The channels will show up in the guide along with their EPG data but the channel name will be missing along with the satellite they belong to. All you see is the SID no channel name and a 1002* or 1003* or 1004* etc.. for where the satellite name should be.

For example, the other day I had scanned 129 West (Dish), all channels came in fine and the guide was correct, then I deleted one channels from 119W (from the channel list) and the entire 129W channels dissappeard from the DVBEPG guide. I checked Show all known channels and all the 129W channels were still there along with the EPG data but their names where gone along with the satellite name, there was just a 1004* where the satellite name should be. Happened again last night, I scanned 61.5W and although all the channels came in (they appear in dvbdream channel list) only about a third appear in the dvbepg guide because the rest have no channel names or satellite.

Sounds like you are having a scanning issue. Sometimes if the scan timing is too short it will only pick up the hex number for the channel. Not the actual channel name. If you use the DD channel list to list each transponder you will most likely find that the channel names for some transponders are missing. This means you need to rescan the transponder until the names show up. It usually takes a few times unless your timing is set up right. Don't ask me how to change the timing, I don't know, I'm not having this problem in DD thank god. But I have had it in MT and changing the timing worked.

No, that is not it either. The channels names appear fine in the DVBDream channel list. They just don't appear in the DVBEPG guide, the SID is there along with the actual EPG data just not the channel name and the satellite it belongs to. It's like DVBEPG cannot read the data from the dvbdream database.

I'm with zag1958 on this issue. DVBEPG is missing channels in it's guide.

Over 20000 items have been parsed according to the 'counter' at the bottom of the guide. B*v TP 12267 (A&E, SPACE, STAR, and others) carries the extended guide.

Channel names in DD1.3a listing are fine, in fact none of them have missing names.

It has something to do with rescanning, or deleting a few, or rearranging into favorites (I use the 'old' favorites, not the newer 'quick' favorites if that makes a difference). Not sure what exactly is causing the mixup in DVBEPG. It's just a big mess.

Quite a shame, since DVBEPG has long been my favorite EPG and had been waiting a long time for it to be updated to support DD.

I have the same issue. However I'm not convinced it's DVBDream.
Without doing anything with the channel list...
I find that on some channels the program info is available immediately while for others it can take a long time. Switching channels for example, some will display the program title on the OSD and others will not.
It's strange and haven't quite found out what's going on, but then I haven't researched it. Some channels I've found have the wrong satellite listed with them under network name, not sure if that's a problem.

In DVBEPG, I'm looking at 3 satellites for one provider and get channels in the guide for 2 of them.

Was wondering if you guys found a fix for your issues? i setup my first setup last night.. and the epg was a giant mess.. no channel names at all in the epg, although they are in the DD channel list.

EPG populates, but wont goto channels when you pick them... just goes back to what was on, this is with mouse or remote.

Today i setup a new setup at work and epg works fine, except that i went through the channel list and erased unwanted channels.. and they wont get outa the EPG:(

Its almost like DD is having a hard time talking to dvbepg.. i have use dvbepg forever with other dvb softwares and never had issues like this (i love DD, just saying that i don't think dvbepg is the prob, just a bug somewhere)

P.S. i could swear that momotte posted like 8 months ago he was no longer making dvbepg since ant-epg was made.. i would still rather have dvgepg than any other though:)

No, no fix yet. The best thing to do is start over again, don't delete any channels and hope for the best. I think the problem is related to the way dvbepg relates to chlist.chl.

Momotte didn't stop supporting DVBEPG, he just stopped PUBLIC support. He basically just releases it to his private friends. He was kind enough to make it work with DVBDream again but but I don't think he will spend a lot of time supporting it.

Ok, i can duplicate the problem now:) did a fresh install, put in the momotte patch from today.

Watched for like a hour, checked epg, worked perfectly..
Then in DD i went through the channel list and highlighted/deleted channels i didnt need like the spanish and the ones in the 30000 range.

Open EPG, still shows those channels in the epg. Close DD and reopen DD, epg trashed.. all channel names gone, the satellite names in the EPG are replaced with all 1004* or 1006*. pick stuff in the EPG and click it and it doesn't open it in DD just leaves it on the same channel.

Hope this helps... i just wish i had backedup my DD before i did this.. time to resetup again:)

P.S. the problem seems to be editing down the channel list to get rid of crap.. like dvbepg doesn't resync...

BEV moved quite a few channels around in the last few days so I did a rescan of Nimiq2(82). The reshuffling of the channel caused DVB dream to find 46 "new" channels and "loose" just as many. DVBDream handled the change without a hitch DVBEPG on the other hand wiped out all the known channels on 82 except for seven.

I had made a copy of chlist.chl before the rescan so I put everything back as it was and all channels were back to normal. I installed this new patch and rescanned Nimiq2 again. Exact same results all channel names in DVBEPG on this bird disappeared exept for the same seven has before.
