Why is DD So SLOW?

Postby stevec5000 » Sat Nov 25, 2006 8:39 am

Why is DD so painfully slow that it take around 2 minutes to acquire a channel while DVBapps does it in about 4 seconds (and my Samsung STB only 1 second)?
Is there any way to speed it up?

Something is wrong with your setup. It takes less than a second on mine.

zag1958, it's great that yours is fast but how about telling us how you got it to be so fast? Just saying it's fast isn't any help to anyone.

Dreamer, I read the rules but don't see what it has to do with this. How about saying what rule you are referring to exactly?

What's up with you guys, can't anyone on here write a reply without making some kind of smart remark?

How can we correct problem if we don't know what kind of hardware you are using?
It could be anything causing problem so we need facts and info.

There is nothing to tell, I did nothing to make it fast. That's is the way it has always worked. That is why I said there must be something wrong with your system. I was not trying to be sarcastic I was just trying to tell you that the slowness you are experiencing is related to your specific system and not the software in general. Do you see anybody else complaining about that? And believe me if it took two minutes to change a channels it would be all over this board.

You see?
Even you are complaining about lack of details :)

How we can help you if you don't give us ANY detail?
If you ask very general question, don't expect anything but general answer.

If you want help READ the rules (one simple rule: give detailed explanation of the problem, inclding hardware you use).
If you don't want to read the rules, stop complaining. Cause nobody would bother to answer your questions anymore.

At least send us the beginning of dvbdream.log file (about the 20 first lines of this file).
And as it is mention previously, tell us about your hardware in profile... My crystal ball is broken

Slow???

Postby theterran » Mon Dec 25, 2006 9:23 pm

Stock install no mods to program and it works better tahn most dvb apps out there and I've tried a few. Check your system settings, you might as others have mentions include your setup, ie: hardware, OS dvb card, drivers being used etc. You also may want to let us know what the cpu usage shows when running the app. I average about 4-5%. The doctor can fix whats borken till you tell him where it hurts.
