Can't get it to work (lan broadcast)

Postby nickyj911 » Fri Dec 01, 2006 4:04 pm

Actually, I'm pretty my problem is with my configuration of VLC. But I can't get it to work. I tried changing out the video codecs, and doing the multi cast, and turned my windows firewall off. Still nothing. Using a netgear wireless router.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Well, I looked in a lot of other places and came up with a codec pack that seems to have covered it. But that is only to one computer. Now the challenge is to get it to broadcast across my entire network. I'm using a Netgear router. I tried both the XXX.XXX.XXX.255, and .001 and niether one of them did it.

Also, when broadcasting, my internet goes down, is there some way to avoid this?

Second question, how can I control the channel changing from the client. That would be the bomb.

nickyj911, I'm having the same issues...no video. I get streaming info but no display of it. Which codec pack did you use on your client machine?I'm using a Westell 327 router tied to a smc ez swqitch 8508t. the lights indicate the broadcast is happening, also the thruput is indicated in dvbdream (lan settings) and in vlc statistics.I'd love to get this to work!!

Update....got it working!(sort of)didn't use the default settings in the how-to (192.168.1.255 broadcast)just used the exact ip for the client machine in dvbdream. BUT... it only works on some channels(SHOHD,DSCHD,STARZHD,PPVHD and a handful of sd channels but nowhere near all.and still no RAVEHD :( but it's a start) BTW using a genpix usb adapter and cardsharing.
