LAN Streaming Problem

I cannot see the audio and video in VLC, but I can see all the information in the Stream and Media Info Window so I don't think it is a network problem. I read a few threads where people had similar problems that where fixed by installing a new codec on the client computer and changing the mpeg2 codec used in DD. I didn't think VLC used external codecs but I tried anyway with no luck. I CANNOT play a recorded file with VLC and think that is the root of my problem but don't know how to fix it. I appreciate any help you could provide.

You're right, VLC uses its own implemented filters.

I'm using v0.8.6a. I checked and it is the latest. When I play files recorded from ProgDVB, VLC is able to play the audio but there is just black where the video should be. When I play from DD, neither audio or video work. I will try from Linux in a minute.

I got the same exact problem. Anyone knows what can cause this?

My server PC runs on XP32 and my client PC runs on XP64. Using latest VLC prog on client. Using latest DD on server.
Router: WRT54GS and both PCs are wired to the router not wireless.
