No Sound on VRT DVB-T Radio Channels

When tuning into a radio channel, this error is generated:

ERROR: ConnectionMediaType Failed!

I live in the Flanders region of Belgium where only the VRT broadcast FTA radio channels (mp2).

Hardware: Pinnacle PCTV 330e on Windows Vista 32bit with ATI Radeon X1600 and Realtek HD Audio ALC883.

Tested with ffdshow and gabest mpeg audio decoders. The audio works when watching TV, with the same codecs.

I can listen to the radio channels with Windows Media Center and DVBViewer. DVBViewer also uses the ffdshow audio decoder (libmad).

It's still the same, watching tv channels works, radio channels don't. But now there is no error thrown in the log file.

try to install few more audio codecs and try with them and other audio renderer combinations. You can install WinDVD trial version for intervideo codecs.

if this doesnt help, then I will need sample TS stream from those radio stations to test it here.

How to capture a sample stream
1) enable "Full TS" mode in device options (if your device has this option), restart DD
2) start "Stream Recorder" module on the problematic transponder, (main menu->modules->stream recorder) record about 50-100 mb
3) upload file with an FTP program. (like freeware Filezilla)

I found the solution and I sent a PM to you.
(Use the latest AC3Filter audio codec)

If I click on Options > Device Options, nothing happens, no window appears. I use the default BDA device.

Weird, decoding MPEG audio with an AC3Filter. But, it works!

Then I tested back with ffdshow. By default, it uses libmad for decoding MP1/MP2. Doesn't work, as said before. I changed this to mp3lib, doesn't work either. Then I changed it to libavcodec, and yes, this one works!

Strange that libmad works on video channels, but not with radio. AC3Filter or libavcodec does the trick. Many thanks for the tip, D-Vito!

thanks, just tested it on all radio stations on the sample stream,
it works well with intervideo, cyberlink, nvidia, nero audio codecs.

there might be slight difference between the coding of radio and TV audio channels (MPEG profile differences/sound quality/bitrate) maybe FFDShow doesnt handle some of them with some/default libraries.

ffdshow libmad and Gabest Audio decoder don't work, although they do work with other programs like progDVB and DVBViewer. It's a bit strange

But I'm happy to have it working!
