High CPU usage with DD1.3 recording VS older versions?

Postby faam » Wed Nov 15, 2006 6:45 am

Hi I am an addect to dvbdream since the begining but i was noteced that the new version 1.3 cause troubles to me while i am recording, here is the symptoms :
At first recording after intiation of the program everything is fine but later in the 2nd time and so on the cpu usage is raised to the double and the picture became choppy while watching during the recording-but the recording material is fine-and nothing correct this ctl+w or ctl+r except restarting the program and the sequences as above also happenning even disabling all modules also no effect when changing codecs .
I am using windows xp sp2 ,512 ram ,2.8 p4 553fsb,fresh installing of new dd1.3 , vcredist_x86 redistribution pack installed & net framework 2 too.

My idea that the rec_mng.dll is the cause .

Hi
That's my trouble too. I can't speak English well. I just can say "Help me" for recording with 1.3a.

Strange, I can't reproduce, you can try:

- 4.4.0 drivers
- different device - Ctrl+D > Direct and SDK
- toggle Full TS mode in menu > Options > Device > Options > Options
- don't use 2 plugins at the same time and use the latest versions of plugins

I have had some problems - huge freezing, at some channels only, Full TS mode fixed this problem.

If you change a device, or device options, you have to restart DVB Dream. Good luck.

I tried all this ways using various Codecs and Driver Versions but it was not helpful. :(

I replaced the "rec_mng.dll" with an old version (1.2e) and it appears to be fixed!

That is the solution for real i was replace it before but just want to see the response of reloc or deam for it but it is it the the real cause
so any one you can use the older version of rec_mng.dll from previous version and it will fix the problem

Faam and dorwilk...please tell what recording format you are using. I had a similar problem with (mpeg) ..

With the new version (mpeg) is PERFECT but recording in (ts) is worse..

Try recording in (mpeg)..

High CPU usage in my case occurs with a VIEWING mode.
I use CyberLink decoder for video and InterVideo for audio and change them does not result.

AMD Duron, 1400 MHz Applebred

May be this happened because of driver v4.4.0.0 ?

Hi! I have the same problem. But I just use DD recently and do not have the older version.

Can I have a copy of "rec_mng.dll"?

Thanks for all your help.

I'm appending that to this post but I think the new 1.3c has that itself.

Thank ABS.

I think I got the perfect combination of codec. The picture is now crispy clear watching multivision. But still the CPU usage is 45-80 even when no recording. However, CPU usage seems to drop a bit when resizing the window to smaller.

I can't seem to find where the option for Full TS mode is. Also my Device Option does not open any dialog box as if it is not responding.

Is this option depends on DVB card? Is Viewing mode means watching while recording? I find the renderless mode which turn the screen black but it reduces CPU usage very litte-About 5-10% reduction only.

thanks for your help.

I need more information about your hardware, right now watching 4 channels at once (1+3 PIP windows) and CPU usage is about 30%, using ATI video codec, InterVideo audio codec and VMR9 renderer.

Thanks Dreamer,

It must be my old CPU then. Although on some FTA channels, its 40-50% even with 2 PIP windows open. But picture freezes.

Anyway, Im using Intervideo both video and audio and VMR seem more stable than VMR9. I have Nvidia Pure Video but having problem with full screen.

Where can I get ATI codec? Is this what is recommended for DD now?

Thanks.
