PAT and PMT generation when recording TS

It would be great to have the recorded TS stream contain valid PAT and PMT packets (not the original ones, but new ones that describe only the recorded a/v streams). I had to write a utility to do that manually afterwards, but it's always an extra step.

hello
can you please share this utility including sources? At this point I don't know how to construct these tables, I am just able to copy the existing tables which as you said contain information about all the programs on the same transponder. maibe you can let rel to get an inspiration seeing your utility as well.
thanks for your help here in the forum

@dmz,
it might be possible in future versions.
I just wonder where would you need that.
a TS player needs stream to be that way?

Correct. It depends on a demuxer, but all offcial TS demuxers that allow you to play TS files in Windows Media Player (like the NVidia DX filter that comes with their MPEG2 decoder or the Nero splitter) require valid tables. Gabest splitter DX filter is the only demuxer I know off that does not require the tables. The tables are also necessary if you want to stream to DVHS decks like TSReader is doing, or any other future TS hardware player/recorder such as Blu-ray.

I agree, generating PAT & PMT tables for the recorded chanel, help in the compatibility and I prevent some work/problems
