Zooming and Stretching functions could use the same keyboard shortcuts as Media Player Classic (ie. using numpad). I think its very intuitive.
Also, if aspect ratio set to 16:9 and watching on a standard (4:3) monitor, when using the vertical zoom function the black bars always remain the same size and the image is cropped to fit between the black bars. This is not the same as Media Player Classic where the black bars shrink as you zoom in.
I think Media Player Classic (MPC) is the perfect reference for how zooming/panning/stretching should operate; don't know if others agree?
Its probably worth adding a shortcut to reset zoom, even if you decide not to copy all the zooming functions of MPC.

Zooming it's not perfect, I agree, but try the context menu Aspect ratio options, there are also keyboard shortcut, they work in all modes: Numpad / - reset zoom/AR and Numpad * - toggle between AR modes.
