Sigma Designs Directshow filter support.

Postby theatre1996 » Fri Feb 09, 2007 6:33 pm

After searching the forums, the only topic I could find was:
http://www.dvbdream.org/forum/viewtopic ... ight=sigma

I've edited my guids.ini file, and with a certain measure of sucess. My problem lies in DD autographing the DS filters. The output of the demux get connected to the sigma filter for video, but the cyberlink filter for the audio. I've added the CLSID to both the video AND audio sections of the guids.ini. Could anyone offer some insight as to how to coax DD to graphing the stream properly to the intent? Thanks in advance. :D

To avoid this you have to modify Windows' codecs preferences (merits). You can use a software such as RadLight FilterManager or Filmerit

Just put both Sigma codecs (audio & video) as prefered codecs.

Hi FredB! Thanks for responding :D
After posting last night, I decided to check my filer priorities with DSFM and discovered that the Cyberlink filter had indeed somehow usurped priority from the Sigma filter. After re-prioritizing filters, DD graphed to the Sigma demux and mpeg2 filters correctly, but then wouldn't render. Under the active graph tree in Video properties were a blue and red bar (which I've never seen before) starting to rapidly 'fill-up' as if buffering, but never offered any output. I also couldn't get any combination of VMR9, VMR, or other overlays to happily co-exist with this filter combination. Am I overlooking something else that's preventing DD from generating a proper graph?? :?

I'm more than willing to volunteer time into making this configuration work for the benefit of other DD users. :)

Can you please add you guids.ini modified file in attachment to this topic ? Or at least tell me the CLSID (GUID) from Sigma Design filters (Audio Decoder, Video Decoder & MPEG Stream Splitter)

Just a thought... After trying the filter again with new priorities, DD now complains about not being able to render audio, and to try another audio codec. Is it possible the auto-graph in being confused by the matching CSLID's for audio and video, and not properly graphing the sigma demuxer as the intermediate filter before rendering to the hardware decoder??? Would replacing the CSLID of the demuxer in-lieu of the hardware's DS filter yeild a better result? Any thoughts? :?:

Sorry, I haven't found free time to have a look on that issue.

But, as you mentioned it, the use of Sigma Design demuxer could be the clue of this problem. I think, I'll try to find such a MPEG decoder card to make test on my own.

Thank you so much! :) Is there anything I can do to generate and collect debugging info for you on my end?

Small update:

So far as I've been able to manage, it seem that the DD filter and the input pin of the Sigma demux filter cannot agree completely upon connection. There is certainly a differences in the sub-keys of media type from the DD output to the Sigma input. Inserting intermediate filters to connect the mis-matches allows a graph to build, but introduces HUGE latencys and extra CPU overhead. It might be a dead end, but I'll keep with it. :)

Have you guys ever got this working? I have a Netstream 4000, but have not been able at all to built a graph integrating the sigma design parcer.

I am not planning to do anything for this "hardware MPEG 2 decoders"
since new graphic-cards are quite capable to handle MPEG2 with low cpu usage.
DVB Dream - because I have to dream about having time to code it
