PIP .TS recording still seems broken

the bugs that are most likely related to user configuration (like a specific hardware, codec or driver prob) or impossible to find a logical reason at the moment. The problems in this category might be fixed in future versions as users keep confirming them with additional information.

PIP .TS recording still seems broken

Postby johandm_be » Thu Dec 20, 2007 7:30 am

Hi,

with v1.4g I notice that recoding PIP results in files of 0 length if the recording format is set to TS.

The files for all channels are being created, but only the first channel is actually being recorded, the other files remain at 0 bytes. I tried this with a transponder with nothing but FTA channels to be sure that plugins were not in my way.

this happens both manual recording and if launched from the command line

it works fine if recording is set to MPG

Thanks,
Johan.

Split from the other topic - please don't post in closed sections.

I can't confirm this bug.

Try to re-download re-install the last version and then provide more information, incl. exact channel name, TP, sat.

Hi,

thanks for the reply.

I tried re-downloading and re-installing, the issue is still the same here.
I also did a filecompare between the 1.4g exe of yesterday and that is also identical.

Here is how I am testing this:

1) Channel No = 100:
CHANNEL
Name: "Omroep Brabant Televisie" Provider: "CANALDIGITAAL SATELLIET"

2) Channel No = 101:
CHANNEL

2) Channel No = 102:

Then I open a XP command prompt, and from within C:\DVBDREAM, I execute:

dreamstart.exe /chno=100 /renderless=on /startpiprec_chno=100 /startpiprec_chno=101 /startpiprec_chno=102

If recording mode is set to TS, then I see these 3 files appear in the recording directory:
Omroep Brabant Televisie noevent 20071221_105246 #1.ts
Omroep Zeeland Televisie noevent 20071221_105246 #1.ts
Omrop Fryslan Televisie noevent 20071221_105246 #2.ts
Only the first file actually gets bytes, the other 2 remain at file length = zero. Notice also the 3rd file is tagged as #2 !

After a minute or so, stop it:

dreamstart.exe /quit

Now, open dvbdream and set the recording mode to MPG, and close it.

dreamstart.exe /chno=100 /renderless=on /startpiprec_chno=100 /startpiprec_chno=101 /startpiprec_chno=102

With recording mode is set to MPEG, then I see these 3 files appear in the recording directory:
Omroep Brabant Televisie noevent 20071221_110257 #1.mpg
Omroep Zeeland Televisie noevent 20071221_110257 #1.mpg
Omrop Fryslan Televisie noevent 20071221_110257 #1.mpg
and they all grow in size as time goes on.

While on the subject: would it be possible to foresee an option in the future to also pass in the file names of the recording with the command line ? Right now, the name can be assigned automatically including the show name from the EPG, which is a good idea, but the problem is: if you typically start your recordings 5 minutes earlier, then they get assigned with the name of the show that was just preceding it...

Thanks for the great software BTW. I am very impressed with how reliable and stable it is compared to all the other competing products out there.

hello

tried on the command line like this, can't reproduce here.

Code: Select all

dreamstart /chno=124 /renderless=on /startpiprec_chno=123 /startpip
rec_chno=122

dreamstart /quit
please try on upcoming v1.4h , to see if the problem is still there

Scheduler "job naming" support might be possible in future. (added to TO-DO list)
DVB Dream - because I have to dream about having time to code it
