unable to scan properly (switching problems?) please help!

Postby pr0k » Mon Oct 01, 2007 7:49 pm

Hi there. i am new to DVB cards, but not new to FTA, and i am having some major difficulty with my new dvb card and i am hoping i can gain some insight here. i will describe my situation below.

After installing my new Hauppage Nova-S-Plus DVB card i installed the drivers that came with the cd. not knowing much about how to get this working i turned to what i came across first, which was the mytheatre program. after some time i finally was able to scan my 4 sats in. that was all fine, but mytheatre would not create recordings properly for me (crashed at random intervals when recording), so i began to research other programs. after trying a couple with no success (progdvb, altdvb, etc, all either crashed or did not start up) i came to DVB dream. after installing it looked hopeful, the progeram was stable and looked very nice. however when it came to scanning in my satellites i could just not get it to work. i have spent countless hours tring every possible setting and jsut cannot get it to work. my hardware is at follows:

sats 82, 91, 110, 119. using an EMP Centauri 9x4 Multiswitch (uses diseqc+22khz). - 8in(4sats), out to 4 receivers - dvb card is hooked to fourth slot.
in my other normal STB's setup is working as follows:
82-Diseqc port1, 22khz off.
91-Diseqc port1, 22khx on.
110-Diseqc port2, 22khz off.
119-Diseqc port3, 22hkz on.
these settings work in mytheatre as well (12200000=22khz on, 12700000=22khz off)

when using dvbdream at first no matter what i did every time i scanned all i got was sat 82. i tried all the different types of lnb's, i tried raw diseqc commands for commited switch ports, i tried many different LOF-SW frequencies, all i got was 82. tonight i decided i would install the latest drivers for the card. after doign so and rebooting, i did a fresh install of dvbdream. i did not install any extra plugins, just what came with the setup package. this time i have gone through the EXACT same thing, except now when i scan i get 91 for everything instead of 82! i am basically out of ideas, and i am sorry for the long post but i have been doing research on this and i cannot seem to find anything that helps me.
i very much hope that soemone will take the time to read this and hopefully i can get it sorted out. thanks very much, dvbdream is looking like an excellent program (if i can get satellties scanned properly :)

EDIT: now that i think about it, i believe the reason i only get 91 the second time is because before installing the program for the second time, i watched a program on 91 in mytheatre. is basically appears as if dvbdream simply cannot control my switch, as i even tried ridiculous numbers that ovbiously would not work for frequencies. driver issues?

Look here http://www.dvbdream.org/supported_devices.php
Is your Haupage card fully supported by DD? I don't see it on the list?

no it is not there, but the program recognizes it on startup. i also tried the BDA_ALL driver by ScanMan, but with that i was not able to get any signal whatsoever...if it so that my card isnt supported and there is no way that i can make it work...can someone recommend alternate software (other than mytheatre)?

A friend of me has the same card and it works fine with DD (and better with ScanMan's device), but he use a motorized dish with a single LNB, so he can't test DiseqC functions.

Pardon my ignorance, but how can you control a motor WITHOUT diseqc commands?

With an external positioner command box

--> example : http://www.sateuropa.co.uk/product_over ... &subcat=57

His dish is motorized with a Superjack 36 Volts H/H motor which is not DiseqC 1.2 compatible.

Before DiseqC 1.2 protocole exists all motorized dishes were using 36 V motors  And for big dishes, DiseqC 1.2 is not powerful enought to rotate them.

Nota : Only few DVB-S cards are DiseqC 1.2 compliant.
