What can timeshift do

Postby Glimmerman911 » Tue Nov 06, 2007 9:15 am

What are the benefits of timeshift?

Does it allow me to pause live tv? Can I fast forward through commercials after pausing?

I have 1.5gig ram, how much should I dedicate to timeshift?

Hi

Timeshifting means taking you back or forward
like when you went to bathroom or kitchen recieving call just drag the button back to watch what you had missed

make it big for example 512 MB on defargmented volume on your harddisk

Is there any way to pause, then come back and hit play?

Any general rules of thumb for calculating space required for an HD feed?

For example, 10 megs per minute or something?

Hi

i will make it easy for you averagely the non HD channels broadcasting with 3000 kbps = roughly from 20-30 Megabyte size in 1 minute

and for the HD channels may be fron 40-60 or more

so for 512 MB timeshift =30 minutes of non HD channels(SD channels)

and about the pause you can determine the time when you left and drag the slidder back to that time

Timeshift also allows to record something you just saw or something that started a few seconds ago, but you really need it with the begining.

For example a video clip on a music channel. It is hard to 'catch' it normally (it's impossible to guess what song they are going to play unless it has been announced), but thanks to it you can go back a few second/minutes and record the whole clip.
