Will DVBDream work with a windows based HTPC running Vista 64 ? I plan on using a Skywalker-1.
Thanks !

yes w/ issues.
1. you can't use nvidia pure video decoder or dvbdream will crash.
2. genpix's 64bit driver is not digitally signed. you'll have to tap f8 during bootup to bring up safemode menu and select "disable driver signing enforcement" every time you boot up,
i hope both of these issue are fixed soon.
i had to use cyberlink for video.

ok, while I wait for the Skywalker-1 to come back in stock I want to use the SkyStar-2 from Technisat ... I installed it last night but can not get it to show up in the DVBDream device list. The CD that came with the SkyStar2 wants to install a bunch of software... how can I just get the driver installed ? Is there a setup guide for SkyStar2 and DVBDream ? Thanks !

Yes you can. Under account settings...disable UAC and that should do it. I had to do this for my Imon IR to effectively use my 880 remote.I can disable driver signing enforcement permanently under User Accounts settings can't I ?yes w/ issues.

BlaznAzn, you're mistaken. UAC, though it can cause issues with certain apps, has nothing to do with driver signature enforcement.Yes you can. Under account settings...disable UAC and that should do it. I had to do this for my Imon IR to effectively use my 880 remote.
Also, if you've installed Vista sp1 the fix in the link sixersclt2 posted above will not work.
There was a proggy called Atsiv that worked for a while until MS labeled it malware and had Verisign revoke its signature. Google "atsiv" and you will find much info.
FYI: Here is the link to Genpix's x64 driver.

This does work... sorta clunky... imho. Also, isn't the x64 driver for XPx64 ? perhaps it is for Vista as well... I tried it, and while it would work, I got the bsod far to many times to consider using it.genpix's 64bit driver is not digitally signed. you'll have to tap f8 during bootup to bring up safemode menu and select "disable driver signing enforcement" every time you boot up
I tried this method as well and it did not 'fix' the problem of disabling driver signing enforcement. I still had to hit F8 and I still got the bsod. Back to XP for me... I think I will go with x64 version since I have 4 gigs of ram. Here is the fix to disable digital driver signing in Vista 64:

The only problem I personally have with driver signing is my skywalker-1. So I am waiting on 1 of 2 things.
A. Another workaround that works with vista x64 sp1 and up. Even if its a bootable cd that auto selects the correct option in the menu.
B. A Digitally signed Genpix driver.
Concerning "B." it would be nice for the customers That payed 300+ dollars for their devices to have a signed driver. On the other hand I totally understand why genpix hasn't. Its outrageous that microsoft demand that anybody who builds a device to work with windows must pay microsoft to make it work. I'm not sure how much said payment is, but I'm sure its not cheap or this wouldn't even be an issue for us.
Gatsat: You can either switch back to xp or vista 32-bit or you can wait it out like I am. I'm confident this issue will be solved one way or another in the future.

Well, I will still have my copy of Vista64 ... but for now I am going to use XPx64 since Genpix supplies a driver for that. The Vista64 driver is like $500/year... at least that is what I read in one of his forum posts. I don't blame him for not getting that... like he said there is no known DVB software that is 64 bit. The only reason I am going with the x64 XP version is because of the amount of memory I have... I believe it will be a super fast machine. The only problem I personally have with driver signing is my skywalker-1. So I am waiting on 1 of 2 things.

This was a hot button issue to say the least. Have you looked at the forums on h++p://dvbn.happysat.org/ or F2ATV ? There are some extensive discussions about this.Anyone have an update for this thread? I have vista x64 and just got my skywalker-1 today. I was looking to set it up but it looks like there will be trouble.

As I myself start setting things up. Can someone who has a SkyWalker Card running with Vista 64bit explain what they did to get it working?
I disabled the signature verification and installed the driver. But when attempting to launch DvbDream, it always launches with the following error:
Error Initializing Error01: application will run offline
Now, I've read people believe this means the SkyWalker card is broken. I disagree here. Reason simply being is I can unplug the USB out of my Vista 64 bit system, and put it back in my other WinXP 32 bit system (which is where I had it originally) and dvbdream works just fine.
