it says good singal over80, and q over 90.

i have it setup as lnb type na bandstacked dishpro ku-hi dbs diseqc port1
for echostar 7 119west.

lnb type na bandstacked dishpro ku-hi dbs diseqc port1
for echostar 10, 11 110west.

i do a scan and it says "no singal"

but the singal and q is all good.
i checked it on my kbox plus, and viewsat lite. and nfusion nova.

so i need some help.

you said:
and i have it hooked up to a dish1000 with the just the one dishpro echostar 119west lnbf.
Why do you configure DVB Dream to use sat 110 then:
lnb type na bandstacked dishpro ku-hi dbs diseqc port1
for echostar 10, 11 110west.
And why do you configure software to use diseqc switch if you don't have switch in the system?
it says good singal over80, and q over 90.
Who says?
You have to get a lock to the signal before program can show any signal strength.

And since you do have a signal strength.
The following statement contradicts to your statement above:
i do a scan and it says "no singal"
PS: Dish 1000 is not a description of your setup. It's meraly a description of the reflector (you said nothing about LNBs). And since you said that you have just one LNB, it is NOT standard Dish 1000 configuration. You have to provide details. How many LNBs are on your dish? do you know the difference between Dual and Twin LNB?

in case you incorrectly described your setup, and you have Three LNBs on your dish with built-in DPP switch, please tell what power supply do you use to power this power-hungry monster. SkyWalker-2 may not be enough to provide enough power (it can power DPP Twin, but DPP Triple-LNB assembly is a stretch)

you do know that hot-plugging of coax-cables can kill a receiver or DVB-s card, don't you?

Also, do you know how to ground an antenna (what is CORRECT grounding?)?

Do you know how to aim dish?

Do you know how to interconnect receivers and LNBs (you need switches)?

Do you know that you can NOT use cable splitters with satellite equipment?

Do you know that you can not use mechanical A-B switches with satellite equipment?

I'm asking this because it seems like you don't know how to replace PCI bracket on the PCI card. (SkyWalker-2 comes with low-profile PCI bracket installed, and spare full size PCI bracket in the same bag as internal USB cable).
You wrote me in e-mail:
i think i got a bad genpix skywalker2, and would like to exchange it for a new one with the PCI card bracket standard size
All you need is a phillips screw-driver (philips screw driver is the one with a cross at the end), undo the screws, align a full size PCI bracket with mounting holes, and put the same two screws back.

you said:
and i have it hooked up to a dish1000.2 with the just the one dishpro echostar 119west lnbf.
Why do you configure DVB Dream to use sat 110 then:

i the dish1000.2 supports 3 satllite's. 129west, ecostar 119west , echostar 119west.
lnb type na bandstacked dishpro ku-hi dbs diseqc port1
for echostar 10, 11 110west.

it says good singal over80, and q over 90.
Who says?
You have to get a lock to the signal before program can show any signal strength.some one gave me a channel list for a dish1000.2.
i treid a free channel like nasa.

And since you do have a signal strength.
The following statement contradicts to your statement above:

it's a dish1000.2 old type, the very 1st one dn came out with.

"do you know the the difference between Dual and Twin LNB?"
yes i do.

"in case you incorrectly described your setup, and you have Three LNBs on your dish with built-in DPP switch, please tell what power supply do you use to power this power-hungry monster. it has a DPP Twin and a DP Plus Single.

"you do know that hot-plugging of coax-cables can kill a receiver or DVB-s card, don't you?"

yes i do. thats why i plugin the cable when the pc is off!!!!

"Also, do you know how to ground an antenna (what is CORRECT grounding?)?"

i had my dish1000.1 installed by a dishnetwork installer.so i know the ground is good.it's a long green copper wire hooked to a steal pole in the ground.

"Do you know how to aim dish?" like i said above a dishnetork installer install the dish for satllite's 129west, 119west, 110west dishnetwork satllites.

"Do you know how to interconnect receivers and LNBs (you need switches)?"

"Do you know that you can NOT use cable splitters with satellite equipment?" i never used any "splitters with satellite equipment"!never will.don't trust them.

"Do you know that you can not use mechanical A-B switches with satellite equipment?"yes. i do know ...

"I'm asking this because it seems like you don't know how to replace PCI bracket on the PCI card. (SkyWalker-2 comes with low-profile PCI bracket installed, and spare full size PCI bracket in the same bag as internal USB cable)."i replaced the PCI bracket on the PCI card when i got the genpix skywalker-2 card.

meaning if i need to exchange it for one more genpix skywalker-2 card,
that i need one with the old type of PCI bracket on the pci card.

not the "small PCI bracket" that comes installed onto the genpix skywalker-2 card.

i have built pc's since 1998.
i have been into fta hobby since 2005.

Sorry, but this is NOT a description of proper grounding.
It does sound like a description of INCORRECT grounding.

w.t.f.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i am not the one who installed the dish1000.1!!!!!!!!!!!

a guy with a van that says"dishnetwork" on it installed the dish!!!
a dish installer from erie, pa.

meaning he setup the dish and grounded it.meaning the cables goto a grounding block copper in color.and a green copper wire warped around a steal pole goes into the ground outside.

if thats not proper gounding than what is????????????????
post some pictures here of a good grounding here.

point me to a dummy's giude to how to ground a dish1000.1 , and a dummy's guide to genpix skywalker-2 to how to setup in dvbdream.

looks like i wasted my $203 usa on a device that never worked right!!

i followed all doc's on cd.

first of all, DishNetwork does not install dishes.
Contractors do (and they put whatever label they want on their vans; but it does NOT mean that they are DishNetwork company).

Unfortunately, many contractors do cut the cost of installation (and don't do a proper job).

Read this about grounding (especially the part "Never allow your installer to ..." - these are the first two paragraphs):
h++p://www.dbsinstall.com/whatis/Whatisgood-5.asp
as well as entire Grounding section in DIY area:
h++p://www.dbsinstall.com/diy/diy.asp

This is just to refresh your memory,
cause you had to know that long ago (since you are into this hobby since 2005).

one more thing:
looks like i wasted my $203 usa on a device that never worked right!!
You paid less then $200, didn't you?

well i checked it out and looked at my grounding system, and it looks good to me.if you don't beleave me i can easy put a picture of my the outside wall of my house of the grounding system.

$189.00 + $10.00 shiping.= $199.50. i was thinking of something else i got for $203.00 alaptop off of ebay.

all i can say is if i can't get it to scan in any channel's a the next 2 or 3 days is , i would like to have it replaced , or my money refunded!

i followed the doc's on the cd-rom to q , read the all before installing the genpix skywalker-2.

I received your SkyWalker-2 back.
All I can say: it's working fine here. There are absolutely no problems with it.

Instead of sending me e-mails (over and over again) that your dish is "professionally installed", why can't you simply describe HOW it is grounded?
Or you have no clue how it is actually done?
Can't you walk outside your house and trace where grounding wires are going?

sorry about all the email's,
"All I can say: it's working fine here. There are absolutely no problems with it."

so what program are you useing?? to scan for channels??

can't i get a screen shot of it working?? in dvbdream1.4i?

what driver's are you useing in xp??
i used the ones that was on the cd-rom you gave me.
my pc has windows xp sp2 on it.

"Can't you walk outside your house and trace where grounding wires are going?"

did that and it looks good like i said.think i will take the skywalker-2 card back.and will test it in my dads dual core amd pc.

"Can't you walk outside your house and trace where grounding wires are going?"

did that and it looks good like i said.
Don't you get it?!
For several times I was asking you to describe HOW your dish is grounded.
And you keep avoiding this question.

Should I assume that it's not grounded (or even worse: grounded incorrectly)?
I see no other explanation of your tactics.

PS: sorry, but you did not express yourself as a hardware-knowledgeable guy. Thus, your statement "it looks good" does not explain anything.
In fact, you previous comment
it's a long green copper wire hooked to a steal pole in the ground.
makes me think that you have a WORST GROUNDING EVER (that is, independent ground).
Which is illegal in the USA (if you don't believe me, read the National Electrical Code).

what motherboard do you have (manufacturer, model name/number)?
does it have USB 2.0 ports?
What's the BIOS version (number and date)?
Is it latest BIOS version?

added:
based on your CPU/GPU spec, I think you don't have enough horsepower to tune to h.264 channels. MPEG-2 is your only option for now (i'm not sure about mpeg-2 HD, your machine may be just barely enough for that).

you may get away with newer Video card (which has hardware support for h.264; don't go for fast 3D card, simple card with hardware h.264 support is what you need).

You may download h.264 clips from internet, and see how fast/slow your system is.

good free clips (different resolution) are here:

i am going to upgrade to a new mainboard next month, can't right now i am really low on cash, after buying that skywalker-2.
