Pinnacle interface not available in device list - why not?

Postby The Grim Sleeper » Sat Nov 28, 2009 9:16 am

Hi everybody out there!

Due to a recently destroyed installation I had to reinstall my OS. This unfortunately made my former DVB software run very unstable, so I decided to switch over to DvbDream, as this seemed to be the most stable alternative. And it also seemed to offer support for my DVB card, the Pinnacle PCTV 400i (at least this is stated here).

So I downloaded and installed DD 1.4i, but when it came to selecting the hardware device, there was no "Pinnacle" interface listed - even after clicking "Display all devices" in the lower left corner. After checking the files in the devices folder, I found that also the "DVB World" device was missing, although the filed are all there. Unfortunately there exist no BDA drivers for the Pinnacle PCTV 400i card, so without the "Pinnacle" device I seem to be ****ed up.

Now I'm not a complete noob, and I also know how to search forums, so I stumbled upon this thread, which is on the same DVB hardware. There is a hint that some interfaces may not show up in the list if the drivers are not installed correctly. But the manufacturer's test program said that all the drivers are okay, and on the other hand, I can see and select a lot of devices which I do not have drivers installed for at all.

So could somebody please give me a clue, how I can
  • - make the missing "Pinnacle" interface appear in the list
    - inverstigate further why the heck it does not appear in the list
    - get the PCTV 400i card working with some other interface
There seem to be some people successfully running this card with DD, maybe one of them can tell me what I may be doing wrong. Please, I desperately want DD to be working, the manufacturer's DVB software is such a crap.

Greetings,

Hello...

Can anybody tell me why this is? Why doesn't this interface show up? How can I check whether my drivers are installed correctly? What are the prerequisites for using this TV card on DD? Is anybody having any clue what I can do to make this work?

I'm not kind of impatient, but it's been a while since my initial post, and no reply at all...

Hi again.

Since here is an announcement that DD will become commercial software in the near future, will I have to pay for getting an answer, or is it just nobody being able (or willing) to help me?

Once again the question: Why do I see lots of TV tuner interfaces in the hardware device selection box that I have neither hardware nor drivers installed for, while some other interfaces that I have both hardware and drivers correctly installed for do not show up (like the "Pinnacle" interface)?

It's over...

OK since there seems to be no solution to my problem, and DD will cost 35USD in the future, I will rather spend my 35 bucks on a new DVB hardware than on software not working with my configuration. Anyway, I wish you good luck with making money - may you find enough people willing to pay for this.

And in no way bother answering - I will never need support for DD any more.

Cheers.

What makes you think you will always get anwer in a forum ?
Pinnacle DD interface 3rd party written by an user and noone else can answer other than its users or author(lprot), if it still works.
Thanks for your overly negative post and condition you wanted to set anyway.
DVB Dream - because I have to dream about having time to code it
